A bloke on facebook has fallen for the annual April Fool joke about the EU forcing all riders to wear hi-viz.

Its astonished me there rubbish people will believe about Europe just because Farage/The Sun et al said that was the case.

I'm still waiting for any one politician who wants to leave to tell me what changes he will be ABLE to make if we leave the EU. They are all quick to say when they think the In groups are scaremongering with their info but still don't say what and how they will change anything.

Surely certain changes would be automatic and some would be wrought over a period of time...and therefore hard to quantify in advance?? From an outsider perspective I think the UK got a pretty good deal by joining the EU...there's going to be a downside, but the positives outweigh the negatives.

Hmmm....care to elaborate on that?? Not doubting it for a second...but it seems like there was a gradual process....first the Common Market...then a progressive shift toward the EU...which to my mind is nothing more than a 'United States of America'...or even worse, a 'United States of Mexico'!!!! It's the WWII part that interests me....didn't Germany owe us all that money???

Fwiw my job would be in serious danger if we came out of the EU, our customer base would stop buying altogether while things settled down, I suspect China and America would target the UK markets and we'd have a low cost free for all while the market resettled with new leading players.
That said its not as bad as if we'd had the Euro, we still currently have to buy colossal amounts of Euros to protect our prices for the years forecast trade, so customers don't get nailed when the Exchange Rate goes nuts, that will still remain the same, although the Pound might go up or down and mess up our plans.

From a "Do we get our money's worth out of the EU?" Actually I think we do. Despite the rhetoric, we pay less per person than Belgium in real terms - and France is the biggest contributor to our Rebate which is 66% of our previous years EU payment. In real terms we contribute approx 33% of what we should according to our economy. If I belonged to a club and got two thirds of my subs back the next year (but no one else did) I'd be pretty pleased!

So in short, in or out? Definitely in for me.

I suspect a lot of jobs will be in jeopardy if we leave.

The pound is already falling fast, that will only get worse if we leave.

I see the US President has upset a few people with his remarks.

I've no doubt that he was asked to say something.

Given our reliance on the US, you can see why we're twitchy about upsetting the business status quo. but how on earth can they say leaving the EU will cause trade issues?
