They've kept her in overnight as her platelets are low.
She'll be on medication and observation

She came back out this morning and is now back home, still weak but back at home

Lesson learnt by the doctors and theyre going to give her a course of antibiotics following her 5th ( out 6 ) Chemo session

Always good to be home. I'm sure your looking after her very well just make sure you look after yourself too big guy, this must be extremely hard on you also.

Thoughts are with all the spuddas. Hope you can have a nice relaxing family weekend at home.

Its taken a couple weeks to get over the last lot of chemo and it looks as if she really reacted to the drugs they gave her.
Her immune system was also low and it couldn't fight an abscess and that also knocked her for six

We have a meeting with her surgeon tomorrow (Tuesday) to discuss there procedure which is progress and then she has another chemo session on Wednesday of this week ... that'll be 5 out of 6 but they're going to keep her in all day this time to monitor the progress as they don't want her relapsing again

I've tried not to comment on the worst aspects of what you are having to deal with regards the chemo treatment, Spudda as I knew it would not be easy. But I do think your experiences regarding the side effects are very common as regards low platelets, low immunity.

The steroids alone are well known for battering the immunity system and that's without taking into account the chemo chemicals running around her system.

The end of the treatment is in sight now though and you and your family can get back to some normality soon.

As Duke said, you're on the home straight.

How are the kids coping with it all?

Tough times Spudda and I hope they are soon behind you. My mate had a brain tumour the size of a visit last year, it's been a difficult journey but very fortunately his last 2 scans have been completely cancer free and he is running the Manchester 10k in a few weeks.

Stay strong mate hopefully things will be better very soon now your on the home straight.

Spudda, it's been a tough road and hopefully the end of treatment and a positive conclusion is on the horizon soon.

My thoughts are with you and anyone else going through this terrible disease. Try and stay strong but even you need time out sometimes. Don't feel bad if you need a break from it. A night having a beer or out on the bike for a couple of hours will do you a lot of good and give you the strength to support your wife.

Sorry I havent updated you all but she's in a good place at the moment, thankfully

One more chemo session to go and then radiotherapy and surgery.
We have had a consultation with the surgeon and has given her 4 options. All varying on how much they remove and the recovery rate.

The gold standard as the surgeon calls it, is a full mastectomy and a rebuild. This reduces the chances of it coming back by 100%. It also involves removing tummy tissue to rebuild her.

Its a one off operation with a recovery of about 8 weeks.
With it being a one off op and talking to others who have had it done, she is also considering having both off

Why ?? Well that reduces the likelyhood of breast cancer apearing in the other breast and with it being a one off op, if the other does get cancer then she'll have no tummy tissue to rebuild it.

But lets get the chemo out of the way first and we have another consultation tomorrow (Tuesday 21st) to discuss her thoughts further

Don't apologise for anything mate, I think you have plenty on your plate without, I have read a lot of woman go for the two for that reason.

Thanks for the update spuds. Important stuff and it's a very personal decision for her and you. I think I'd want to remove as much chance as possible of reappearance of the cancer, but I don't have boobs (or moobs) to consider.

Like Cookie personal speaking I would remove all chance if possible but understand that is a very bug decision for a lady. Good luck and all the best.

That's never going to be an easy decision to make, but she's got her family supporting her.
