I've got yet another telephone consultation
. At least I'm moving up the ladder, this is with a consultant orthopaedic surgeon. He's calling me next Thursday.

Re: What ails you today?
the medic wants to give it another day to be sure, but he suspects I have shingles....FFS
I've had them before and I suspect it is too, spotty rash travelling horizontally along my side under my armpit. Been really headachy the last few days as well

If it's any comfort, my dad had both eyes done a few years ago and he's got 20:20 vision again and there was no pain from the ops.
He said it was like going to the dentist, easy peasy.

Re: What ails you today?
I don't feel it is bad luck to be honest, just completely expected with the amount of stress and emotional crap that keeps piling on. It could just be a heat rash, guess a couple of days will tell.C00kiemonster wrote:Will you stop it with the bad luck??!!kiwikrasher wrote:the medic wants to give it another day to be sure, but he suspects I have shingles....FFS

They do say shingles is stress related I think.
Hope it works out ok, kiwi.

Re: What ails you today?
yeah I've had them before, during my separation/divorce period. It's caused by the varicella zoster virus which is the same as what causes the chickenpox. After you have chickenpox the sucker hides out in your central nervous system and waits till you are rundown/stressed and presents along a single nerve line. Last time I had them it ran from the base of my neck and under my shoulder blade to my side.duke63 wrote:They do say shingles is stress related I think.

False alarm thankfully, he's pretty sure it's just a prickly rash/heat rash episode now.kiwikrasher wrote:yeah I've had them before, during my separation/divorce period. Spoke to the Ortho. He's booking me in for an x-ray. So I've just got wait now for an appointment.

Re: What ails you today?
In my recent experience waiting times are massively down in the NHS.. the level of service and "customer care" has also improved. You'll be in and out in now time mate.
Glad things are moving along for you.

Re: What ails you today?
I had a video call with the ortho. He's going to book me in for an injection next Wednesday.
Just like buses I've also had my appointment letter with the NHS come through for the 11th December for an MRI guided injection.

Re: What ails you today?
Shoulder injection is next Wednesday. I'm hoping it'll do the trick. I'm getting about 3 or 4 hours sleep at the moment.
The department head had the same injection 3 years ago. She said it was very painful for about 2 days after the jab but she's been pain free ever since. I'm not expecting to have a shoulder at 100% but an end to stabbing pain and pain shooting down my arm will be a bonus.

Re: What ails you today?
Yes just work piling up and deadlines looming.
Wife has also had a cold which has gone to her chest which is a bit disconcerting in the current world.
In all honesty i have no desire to ride the bike at this time of year anymore. Unless its unseasonally mild and dry.

Re: What ails you today?
It's my own injection day today. Hopefully it'll help with the shoulder pain and I can start to mobilise it again.
