Collected the repaired tyre, drove over the the most local accessories shop (40 mins away) and bought a rear stand and swingarm bobbins.
Came home and fitted the bobbins and got her off the down strap hanging from the roof and onto a stand and refitted the rear wheel, checked over it all, ready to roll tomorrow morning me thinks.

Took the cover off and started it, first time in a month or so. Typical German engineering, it's not been on a charger at all and it started like it had been ridden every day.

Removed the top box rack and discovered that the new fairing panel is the wrong colour, also got a sit on a VFR800 and am not sure, I found a Triumph Sprint ST for similar money with similar mileage and don't know which would be better, the sprint should be faster.

It's an 06, so plastic tank and no ABS but does have full luggage and is Caspian Blue, I do like them in that bright metallic blue.

They are a good looking bike.
I'm not a fan of plastic tanks

The sprint was the other main contender on my list.Stonesie wrote:Removed the top box rack and discovered that the new fairing panel is the wrong colour, also got a sit on a VFR800 and am not sure, I found a Triumph Sprint ST for similar money with similar mileage and don't know which would be better, the sprint should be faster.
I'll be honest, I was looking for a commuter and 100% reliability. Honda Vs triumph, that made my choice.

I put some fuel stabiliser in both bikes.
No wonder the MV battery is floored, it's freezing in that garage.

Draught excluders and a dehumidifier and/or heater will do the trick nicely. Otherwise you could line with walls and ceiling with insulation and lay carpet or foam tiles on the floor.
Or just keep the batteries in the house?

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
It's not my garage (I'm sure I've mentioned this before). it's under someone elses house. There's no electricity in there. Normally I'm riding everyday. A warm bike being parked up in the evening was enough to keep the garage relatively warm (about 14 degrees in the mornings) but I'm never in there now so it's just been getting colder and colder.
It takes about 2-3 hours to get the battery out on the MV. The entire tailpiece, both seats, the side fairings and the petrol tank have to be removed.

To make the bike lighter and smaller and to shift the weight they decided the best place to put the battery is under the petrol tank.D41 wrote:Really??
That's impressively complicated.

Refitted the standard tail and measured up for spacers for the tail tidy, it was fitted with a top box rack and used it's spacers.

Rolled the SUV to take it out for a quick ride.
Not enough power in the battery to start it.
Took the battery out and it's currently on charge.

That reminds me, it's been nearly a month since I started the sports SUV..
Might give it a little tickle over the weekend of it's not raining.
