Re: What are you doing today ??
Had the kids Athletics Carnival today. One of the joys of my work is I get to go to a fair bit of this sort of thing. As it’s a small school I generally chip in as a parent helper.
But the star of the family today was my 9 yr old daughter. She always smashes the 100m & 200m races and every year has won her age group in both races.
Today they did some warm ups before the events and unfortunately she rolled her ankle. She was limping and struggling to walk. She was crying but not from pain but because she knew she’d lose the sprint mantel. I iced it and strapped it and she sat out the 800m race. But be stuffed if I could convince her to miss the other two. She came second in both races and came off the track in silent tears both times. But still she fronted up for her relay team and they won that race too.
She limped her way around the field events and only sat out the long jump. I was helping on the discus event, and watched her win the junior girls with a 12.20 m throw!! Only two throws all day bet that and that was from the senior boys!! She went on to win her junior girls shot put as well. So she’s off to rep in the next level and hopefully her ankle will be ok by then.
Really proud that she toughed it out and showed plenty of fortitude. I’d be just as proud if she’s hobbled in last.
As for a Byron, he’ll never be a sports star but he too put in a great effort and although he rolled in last at most things he kept his head up and spirits high and did his best. No small feat for him and the first year he’s managed to hold it together and do so. That’s all I ever ask of my kids, so very proud Dad day today.

Mentally tough kids, it's what's needed these days with so much outside pressure.

Today I shall be celebrating The 4th Of July!!! It celebrates US independence from the British tyranny of yesteryear.
Is that a holiday that's observed much in the UK?????

Not much except regretting that burger I had while out on the bike yesterday
And I fitted a standard can to the SDGT, the Austin Racing can made a raspy noise with a strange resonance at cruising revs, gave me a headache even with ear plugs.

Finishing work at midday then heading home to watch the football and having some buyers for our puppies visit. Going to be seriously sad when the puppies all leave

Re: What are you doing today ??
Had an appointment earlier this morning, been there done that, only one in the office today so might disappear home in about an hour. Ive done £1200 quids worth of business with that meeting this morning so Im done for the day
plus it would be rude to leave the bike in the garage all day on a day like today

Well, it's after 4.00pm, and it's a mind-melting 111F here in beautiful downtown Buena Park.
It's fcuking ridiculous heat.
Safe to say, I've done absolutely nowt all day. Zero....zip....zilch.

OK, so that was tough.... Very, very, tough.. 31 miles in 30 degree temperatures hurts hurts a lot. I've got some awesome blisters.
But I did it. First ultra done..
