What is clear is that some people will slag things off before they even know the details.
Feck 'em. People have been asking Triumph to make another Daytona. They've made one. It's using the same engine in a Moto 2 bike, it's British made and it's going to be one of the best handling bikes out there.
Triumph have gone from strength to strength over the years and I think that alone should be celebrated.

Do you think there'll be a toned-down "standard" (read "affordable") version a year or so down the road??

Not surprised tbh Duke the dealer I spoke to yesterday suggested that.
I think like Kwacky I could have been interested but being the cautious type I want to know what I'm buying and how much it will cost and as the saying goes you snooze you loose.
Triumph have gone from strength to strength and good for them

I am not so sure , I think they could release another limited run next year and maybe again the year after , each run of 1530 gets them £27.5 million , if they go for £18000 , which is a nice boost to anyone's sales figures

Yamaha launched the R1M as limited edition for online purchases only which sold out straight away.
The same bike has been in their line up every year since.
Obviously Yamaha and Triumph are different so who knows but it does show there is a market for future sales of a limited run bike.

Didn't Yamaha do that for WSB?

I don't think they run the R1M in race series , I believe its all the standard R1 , I think it has to do with the electronic suspension as to why it is not allowed to race .

Electronic suspension is banned in wsbk that is correct.
Ironically it was Ohlins and Yamaha that brought it to the fore with Haga on an R7.

Wiki tells me that the R1M uses crossplane technology derived directly from the M1 MotoGP bike.

Yamaha were using the crossplane engine in 2009 R1 way before the R1M.

Been my local dealers today. Not to enquire about one of these but it did come upon conversation.
I asked how much as I said the internet is a wash with rumours from various dealers quoting 16 to 20k. The salesman told me he had personally sold six on the release day and was quoting customers 20k. He then showed me an email he had just received today telling him to let deposit paying customers to know a final price in the "region" of 15.5k . If that turns out to be true I could be interested but he said they are all sold out, so I left it there and just spanked the 675 home instead to cheer myself up.

To be honest I'm disappointed if that's true. I was hoping for a proper special edition with a price match to boot.

He showed me the email so he wasnt bullshitting. Not sure how much leeway the word "region" implies though
Maybe it's a proper works special at a great price? Or maybe it's an over hyped, over priced parts bin special
If they released the spec and price I might be interested but I'm not going to buy some apples I dont know the price off, just cos the green grocer selling them, says these are the best most special apples you will ever see. Oh but, you cant see them till I have your money

So do you think used Daytona prices will increase with the extra interest generated in this new bike?

If your looking of disposing of an asset it is the only thing.
I'm looking at selling and discussing a potential deal.
Wondering if I may be in a better position in a month or two?
