It may yet kill me...
I did manage 14 miles trail last weekend, but that was at a really slow chatty pace.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Did some research on arms to see if I can get rid of my T-Rex like upper limbs.
There seems to be loads of conflicting advice. So I went with the master, Arnie.
From what I've read, you only need to train arms once a week, don't do arms on the same day you do upper body, supersets are king and don't go mad with the reps.
So chest and arms day has become chest and core and legs and core is now legs and arms.
For now the arms exercises are: cable overhead triceps, cable bar curl, rope push down, dumbbell hammer curl and finish off with dips to fail.
I'll give that 8 weeks and see if I notice any results.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
I'm busy for the next couple of weeks so gym time will be limited. That in mind I went to the gym again, 4th day in a row.
Cable work. Mostly shoulders but with some chest and abs work throw in.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
16 miles from Coombe Gibbet to Overton done! 2:47 minutes which I am happy with.
It was quite hot and hilly. Strava linky below if your interested in seeing the route, I'm off for food and sleep now!

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Good News!
I went to the gym last night for the first time in 5/6 weeks !! I struggled a little but went easy on myself to break myself back in.
20 minutes of high resistance cross trainer at 140spm followed by press ups, pull ups, single leg squats with 12kg dumbbell, shoulder press, lateral raises, tricep extensions and bicep curls.
So happy I managed to go!!

Re: The new improved fitness thread
I've had a week off from the gym. Back today with back and shoulder. The rest seemed to work as the deadlifts were lit

Enjoying the lighter evenings. Got out for a 5 mile trail run after work. Got lost, and then someone started turning the lights out.. Oops.. Cue a sub 8:30 mile on the road to get back on track

Did my first competitive 10k last Saturday.
Much of it was over fields so was pretty pleased with my 55 minute time. Played havoc with my knees though.

That's a good time mate, especially of your not used to trail. It really surprised me how differently it uses your leg muscles and how much more effort it takes to do the same distance you are used to from the road.duke63 wrote:Did my first competitive 10k last Saturday.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
I've been to the gym. Check me out,
Legs and arms, but I didn't do all of the leg exercises as the combination of the first chocolate in several weeks and a full English meant I needed to avoid over exertion

Re: The new improved fitness thread
I've got back to do today, it's really quiet at work so I'll go down this aft instead of my usual 0600 start nonsense!!!
Arms yesterday, think I'm seeing a bit of progress but that could be in my head.

My gym (which is sadly closing next month) has got a space hopper in for a 50m timed challenge.
I'll be giving that a bash tonight

Yep, the landlord went ahead and sold the land to the supermarket. The supermarket will evict the gym, then empty the building. Next time they apply for planning permission it's an empty building rather than a community sports facility.
