Re: Oulton Park 2016
I REALLY want to do Oulton but seeing the cost of it this year I am put off..
Cadwell is £99
Snetterton is £99
There's a Silverstone GP day for £155 which I'm likely to do..

Re: Oulton Park 2016
Had another great day at Oulton yesterday. The day started badly as when I got up there was thick fog and within minutes of setting off for the circuit I was freezing, my visor was covered in condensation and I was having trouble keeping up with a Nissan Almera! No hurry though as I'd already checked I could jump in the smallboys garage with my mate on a hire bike (no jokes please ). Big shoutout to smallboy trackbike hire who were massively friendly and helpful throughout the day. Highly recommended to anyone thinking of hiring a bike for a trackday.
The morning was slow as the fog didn't lift till between half ten and eleven. After many course inspection laps the fog lifted and my earlier worries about tyres proved to be pointless. The sun came out, the track was warm and dry and my newly fitted supercorsa gripped instantly. The tyre guy set the sag on the rear shock for me as i knew the previous owner had fiddled with it and wound on a lot of preload. Really starting to help with the r now. There were hardly any stoppages which is odd for Oulton and there was plenty of track time as they ran through lunch to make up for the lost time in the morning. Thoroughly enjoyed the day and in the last session they only ran for 10 minutes as they have to close at 5. Secretly relelieved as I was pretty broken by then.
Next up: Saturday 14th May £189 for anyone interested. Expensive but it seems to be the only weekend date listed this year.

Re: Oulton Park 2016
Glad you had a good day and the tyres did their job.
Not sure I can make that weekend as I'm away for both of the weekends either side of it.
How much was the bike hire?

Re: Oulton Park 2016
I think the bike was £200 for a gsxr 600 for the day. If you crash the maximum you have to pay is £400 for the repairs. They also had a gsxr 750 and a blade.
Also cheers to Rocket for popping down. Good to see you mate

Re: Oulton Park 2016
Yeah I assume so. The £200 includes fuel, tyres, warmers etc. All you have to do is take ot to noise testing. If you crash and they can get you back out they will too which isn't always the case apparently.

Re: Oulton Park 2016
Glad things worked out well in the end Andy, I used Smallboys for my eldest lad a while back, they were spot on and tbh I wouldn't hesitate using them again.

Re: Oulton Park 2016
You and the bike looked spot on out there Andy. Really fast and smooth the bike looked settled and the way it was wearing that supercorsa looked spot on. Thanks for the banter it was a good excuse to get out on the bike and took the twisty way home.

Re: Oulton Park 2016
I've just been through the track photographers pictures and picked a few I liked as I haven't got many pictures of the bike yet. There weren't many I'd happily make public which made it cheap at least

Did you run onto the grass mate.? Or did the front let go of the tarmac.?

Re: Oulton Park 2016
I'm not really 100% sure what I did. I know my concentration was wandering a little but I hadn't been off the tarmac at all. I think I went a little wide, tried to bring it back and then...

Re: Oulton Park 2016
Crap :-( at least you and the bike look relatively Ok.
Seems like the front just tucks when you correct and ask it to tighten up

Re: Oulton Park 2016
Looks like it tucked on a "cold" front tyre to me Andy, hows the bike and how're you? (Other than massively gutted that is).
P.S. If thats what happened, I've been there as well, it was why I bought a track only bike.
