Went out for an early morning blast on dry roads, yes the first time this year the roads have been dry on a weekend still fecking cold... Nice bacon bab, cuppa and a natter with an old mate. I do enjoy a good blast on a clear country road in the morning... lol..

Went out for a hoon after 3 weeks without being on it. I must admit I think I rode like an absolute plank at times. Don't think I got out of tops 3rd gear for 100miles that I was out for. Had a real squeaky bum moment at one time. Blasting along a road and around a bend panther other side there were 2 horses. I slammed on my breaks with engine breaking (2ND gear) and they turned in front of me. I'm so glad I was in the right part of the road to be able to see further around the bend!
Also I think I have properly bedded in these new pads. They are amazing! Bembos were good but these are something else in my opinion. I seemed to use my breaks far too early it was like I had to reteach myself how to break [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH AND SMILING EYES]

Test rode it, bought it, taxed it, rode it some more. Only a quick run out to the Ponderosa as all my gear is a bit too perforated for these temperatures! Can't wait till summer now!

Took the battery out yesterday to give it a good old charge, fitted it again today and fired it up in the garage to make everything smell manly again!
Fired up no problems and sounded gioooood!

Also, looking underneath the seat I found two things.
Or more accurately, I didn't find two things, those being the Allen bolts that secure the seat.
So the only thing that's been holding the seat on for at least the last 150 miles is my arse!
I've had a hunt around the garage but only half-heartedly. I'm sure they'll turn up!

You might need them when you come up to the Peaks!

Indeed. I fear Itchy's Leap would be less forgiving to my 'gentleman's area' if I landed on a battery rather than a seat.

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
Blimey, I haven't done anything to my bike in months and now all of a sudden this is my home thread!
Taking out the battery I noticed some rust. There are bits of it all over the bike that I need to address (a legacy from it spending 3 years not in a garage), so I thought today was as good a day as any to have a crack. Underneath the seat there's a sort of strut, I think it provides support for the seat or something. Anyhoo, it's looking worse for wear with the brown stuff so off it comes, whip out the old wet and dry and go to town on it.
I picked up some primer and paint from Halford last year for just this purpose.
It says not to do it when it's cold though, so I've brought the cans in the house, I'll get spraying in the morning.
If anything it'll be good practice to see if it's worth doing to teach sidestand, if I can't do a decent job or the paint looks crappie then I'll just end up getting a new one.

Or just go and flog all the bits you need off Kwackys one, he been saying how well the AFC50 treatment prevented rust!

Tell you what, for a ham-fisted armourer wielding a couple of cans of Halfords own-brand spray, it's not done too bad a job.
Sure, it's on the inside of the bike where no-one can see it, but I'm considering doing the sidestand after seeing the results.

I've tried Googling it and can no longer find it. I'll get it out of the shed at the weekend and take a photo but basically its a rectangle that holds the wheel upright and steady using only one hand or if you are clever, no hands at all.

Worked late, which meant the roads were pretty much empty. Reduced the usual journey time by 20 minutes.

Stripped all the bodywork off and cleaned it thoroughly. The 13+ daytona is significantly fiddlier to strip than the old one. I'm not looking forward to putting it back together!
