Suzuki GSXR1000 VVT technology

Post by duke63 »

Some interesting stuff in here as the intake side has been developed to allow them to use it in Motogp as its not a hydraulic or electric system.

I have no idea what that means, but it's good to see engineers working around rules put in place.

I've seen that system before or something extremely close to it, it was back in the early 80's on a Caterpillar V8 diesel and was used not to advance valve timing, but to advance the fuel pump timing for higher power and less 'knock' at low engine speed. Fwiw it struck me as an elegant fix to a problem when I had to pull it apart. Well done Suzuki!

Nice.

I miss my VTEC.

(appreciate that that's a hydraulic system and not allowed in GP, and this isn't, but still)
