Vehicle tax for new owners
What's the set up now?
Do you buy the vehicle tax after you've bought the bike or do you have to get it before?
Worried I'll get done on Saturday as I drive off the forecourt.

Re: Vehicle tax for new owners
I thought they did at the dealers now, as there's no paper disc I think it can all be done online at the dealers mate.
I get knocked down but i get up again.

Re: Vehicle tax for new owners
Had to take a mate to pick up a new car a couple of weeks ago and the dealer did the tax there and then for him, they can even set up a direct debit so you can pay monthly for it.
I get knocked down but i get up again.

Re: Vehicle tax for new owners
If the bike is new then the dealer has to do it as I think there is a further initial tax when registering for the first time. I don't think they are allowed to sell any bike with no tax.

Re: Vehicle tax for new owners
Thanks.
I'll ask them on Saturday. It's an ex demo bike so it's had to have tax on it at some point.
They called yesterday to tell me the alarm had been fitted and they serviced it ready for me to collect it.

I did on the day of purchase but on a new bike surely it will be part of the "On the rapd charges" so hopefully nothing extra for you to pay.

Re: Vehicle tax for new owners
for used I did, view, like, pay deposit, take details and tax on the day I was picking up. It would probably pay to check if they will tax it there or if you have to put it on yourself. At least, if you ask and know then at the worst you can tax it online before you go out of the house to collect it.
I would assume ex demo would fall into the used bracket requiring you to tax it though as the tax on vehicles is now no longer transferable between owners.

Re: Vehicle tax for new owners
Do you want the levers you sent me back for the SX. I wasn't going to say anything as didn't want to sound ungrateful but they don't fit the ten. There just sat in the garage so your obviously very welcome to them if they would be good for the sx.

Re: Vehicle tax for new owners
Please don't read that as ungrateful as you were very very generous to send them.

Re: Vehicle tax for new owners
Yep, pick it up on Saturday. One of the sales guys was using it as a commuter, hence the mileage. They've given it a service this week as well so it's ready to go.
No worries about the levers. I know you're not one to take stuff for granted. I really am going to keep the SX pretty much stock so I won't be swapping the levers. Ta anyway.

Very much looking forward to seeing the sx.
If its got a zx10 engine in there and you on board the commute is going to be a lot of fun. Two hooligans in perfect harmony.
Enjoy it mate you work hard so enjoy the fruits of your labour.

Cheers Blade. I'm hoping the weather will play its part. Bloody typical that it's been really nice here today.
