Re: The new improved fitness thread
I gave my bicycle a once over.... I think it was overdue.
G clamps, excess leverage, dead blow mallets, studding and 3L of WD40 later and I got the main pivot bolt out.

Deadlifts.
I'm now at home and my back muscles are twitching.
This is good, yeah?

Re: The new improved fitness thread
I've been really slacking lately. Work has had me travelling and I've been going in the office so either I've not had the time or I've not had the energy.
I need to get back in to it. Laziness at my age isn't beneficial

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Back into the fitness regime with vengeance this month.
Finally got signed up with the PT again, so back to the weekly beastings. I'm focusing on tattoos fat loss and building some upper body with him.
For those that haven't seen on FB, I've decided to do the 3 peaks national challenge. 3 mountains in 24 hours. The target date for training is mid may, so time to find some bloody big hills to walk up.

Great stuff!!! Can I make a suggestion? Do them single leg, identify your weakest leg and then match your strongest leg to that

I'm fairly even, I do a lot of weighted single leg squats and weighted walking lunges.Cav wrote:Great stuff!!! Can I make a suggestion? Do them single leg, identify your weakest leg and then match your strongest leg to that
This week was ramping up the chest press. 3 weeks ago it was just the bar, this week it was +30kg.. happy with that progress.
Really enjoying the buzz now coming home after an hour plus session. Also starting to build a routine between cardio, legs, core, and upper body.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Leg day..
15 mins stair machine + 2 x 10 calorie intervals on the ski machine.
15 mins treadmill, fast walk at maximum incline + 3 x 10 calorie intervals on the ski machine finished with a 60 second 100% effort sprint.
Inner and outer thighs. 2 sets of 10 reps each at low weight.
Leg press 4 sets of 12 reps starting at 118kg finishing the last set at 145kg. That was hard.
20 weighted lunges with a 25kg bag, followed immediately with 12 deep squats with the same bag..v repeat 3 times...
Cool down.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
I didn't really want to go the gym and my enthusiasm didn't increase when I got there. I ended up doing a mix. Barbell squats, rack pulls, barbell shrugs, lat pulldowns, leg extensions, decline and incline chest and chest flys. I got too bored to do arms.

Cardio and core tonight.
And a bit of letching at a couple of very attractive young ladies in very tight lycra.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
PT decided to push and see what I could bench.
Happy with 60kg even though it was a single rep. Finished off with a set of 10 at 30kg, so reasonably solid progress.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
20-mile road ride on me mountain bike.
I should've timed myself, because I know I got home much sooner than I expected. Think I'm going to go out tomorrow & Friday too....rain is forecast for Friday or Saturday, so I'll play it by ear.
I'm sorta surprised, because I ate a big breakfast right before I left and I'd planned on taking it easy.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
We put on a Charity event for the last 2 days where we aimed to cycle the distance from our headquarters in Gloucester to the Eiffel Tower (not in Gloucester).
We were so far behind in planning the event we were looking to postpone, or even cancel, the whole thing.
With riders still spinning away and 6 night shift riders signed up we smashed it, having already ridden 555km and now on our way to fontainebleau... I think that's how to spell it. I did my bit and pit in 1.5hrs effort to do 44.4km.
What's more, we'll have fundraiser over £1000 for a child bereavement charity based in Gloucester called Winston's Wish.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
In total, including the matched donation by the company, we raised £2500 and cycle over 600km which meant we sailed past Paris and could have reached Rotterdam.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
I took an unplanned lie down in the woods yesterday.
I got my suspension back from a service so ran the same trail back to back while bracketing damping. Happy with compression I moved onto rebound. I ran it faster which was excellent for grip but beat up my hands so then I ran it slower. Over the crest is a left hand bend with the 'blue' tree being on the right of the trail.
The rebound was too slow and I got airborne, therefore I went straight and couldn't make the turn. Realising I'm headed straight foe the tree I change tac and aim to run off the trail. Except I hit a thick branch and went over the bars. Doh!
I've buggered my wrist and took a thick sharp branch to the inside of the knee. Was still an enjoyable ride though!!
It was actually a really nice place to lay down for 5 minutes and enjoy nature...
