That's one of the main reasons families buy a home in a cul-de-sac....I mean, they see only a very limited amount of traffic, and nearly everyone who goes there, belongs there.
1 - my home WiFi has a wobbly frequently, not the end of the world for my devices, more of an annoyance.
2 - my work laptop does this thing where it freezes when my WiFi throws a wobbly. The ONLY solution is to wait for the battery to go flat.
I have now ordered a set of precision screwdrivers so that I can speed up the process by taking the battery out. The downside is that any unsaved work will get lost.

Try holding down the power button for 10+ seconds, that should force it to shut down.
Do you have a network port on the laptop? If so and you work at a desk I would consider powerline adapters, I have a similar WiFi issue and use powerline adapters to good results.

I'm mostly working from the sofa because of resting my leg which is in touching distance of the router - I just don't have an ethernet lead to plug in.
Also for some reason I have to go on 5GHz network to get my 50Mb, 2.4 gets 10-18Mb. The Virgin folk don't seem to give a crap and their customer service is dogsh!t.

I'll have a look into those powerline adapters
Change the channels on your Wi-Fi. Find them in your router. Could be interference from next door.
Your 5ghz will likely be quicker, 2.4 will have more range but be slower mostly, that's fairly normal.
People who decide that your stalking and being quiet means nothing!!! I was trying to snap a Kingfisher, was being very quiet,... then i get people coming right up behind me, rattling the railings, asking what it is ? what do you see? shouting to the people they were with.... I’m friends on FB with Scarlet (from D600.org days) and she is heavily into aviation photography. She has very similar issues at times, but more other photographers plonking themselves directly in from of her once she’s spend time and effort to get all set up and ready for a specific shot.
There is just a lot of selfish people about these days.

Ah mate I know that one, car shows, bike shows, airshows I have experienced this every bloody time!!!
Trouble is twats like this cant see what they are doing or if they do, really dont give a shit! So the outcome can get very messy... I have pushed back on a few occasions lol
Today' vent...
The news this morning is announcing that "The SBS stormed a tanker off the IoW and overwhelmed the Pirates who had it"
The truth. it seems, is that the tanker crew discovered 9x Nigerian migrants stowing away yesterday. A four helicopter 40x man assault ( at a cost of ££££££££ to us the taxpayers ) resulted in the stowaways being brought to the mainland. Exactly what they were asking .
Completely typical, home for 4 weeks and the day I fly off to work all hell breaks loose.
Byrons school (and another 10 or so in the area) had a bomb threat and school was fully evacuated
Jess’ daughter, Leila came down with severe stomach pains and they spent the night in hospital, and Endone isn’t even touching the pain. Her blood pressure is very low and they are talking about an exploratory laparoscopy today.
I really need to get a local job

Turns out it was 20 schools evacuated yesterday, another 10 got the same treatment today. Like our kids need this stress with the year they have already had
