Seems appropriate to adapt a quote from Crocodile Dundee:kiwikrasher wrote:https://7news.com.au/news/qld/queenslan ... UJZYp8ET1g

Fecking dust storms
We normally have 1 or 2 reasonably ones a year but in the 3 weeks I’ve been home we have had 3 huge ones. I’ve given up cleaning up after them now.

Would that not be related to the fires Kiwi.?kiwikrasher wrote:Fecking dust storms

Nah mate, getting ash on top of that at times as well. This is red dust stirred up from the interior and dumped on us with strong westerlies.StMarks wrote:Would that not be related to the fires Kiwi.?kiwikrasher wrote:Fecking dust storms

To be fair, that pic is from a storm we had in 2009 which was insane. Crazy amounts of red dust everywhere.Kwacky wrote:Looks like War of the Worlds

Re: Reasons not to go to Australia, part 24753
Do you think parts of Australia will become uninhabitable in the near future, kiwi?
I have a friend whose sister has lived near Perth for 25 years now and she is starting to say that summer heat becomes more and more unbearable as each year passes. It gets hotter and for longer periods.

There’s plenty of Australia that is pretty much already inhabitable, check this story out on Coober Pedy

But your friend is dead on, in the near 20 yrs I’ve been here, the extreme hot periods have definitely got longer. Just this week we had 3 days over 35 deg. I spent the week outside catching up on yard work and it nearly killed me. Was working under the 4WD one day and my legs got burnt to bits.

Looks like Uncle Owen & Aunt Beru's house on Tattooine.
Or a scene from Shute's "On The Beach".....probably the most depressing book ever written.

I see they've caught some kids starting fires in one region.

Unfortunately not the first time a volunteer firefighter has been charged for lighting fires. A few years back one guy lit a bunch in the Blue Mountains area just so he could go and fight them.D6 wrote:from volunteer firefighters? WTF?
