Scooters
I am sorely tempted to try a cheap scooter as a commuting vehicle.
If i could find one that needs a bit of work then even better if its dirt cheap. That said i will orbably end up buying something like an Italjet or Peugeot Speedfight just because they look cool.
Anyone else done this before?
Sometimes my commute to Tipton, my average is now less than 20mph and that includes about 5 miles of motorway. A car is becoming a pointless tool for getting to work. A scooter would be far cheaper and much quicker and would save miles on the car. And it6 would be more fun as long as its not pissing down or snowing.

What about a Honda Grom? A mate has one and it’s a little demon!

Re: Scooters
Rich at Sutton Honda has got a grom, he raves about it.
I do like the new monkey bikes Honda are selling.
I think a scooter is a good idea. Didn't Bratty do the same as it worked out about 1/3 of the price of commuting by bike?
When I start struggling with a bike for work I think I'll go down the maxi scooter route.

Yes. He bought a scooter & got knocked off it, if I remember right. And he had that big naked Honda 1000-something.

Re: Scooters
If i get a scooter it will be a 250 minimum, they're better value used as there's much less demand for anything over 125 and the extra grunt would be nice to have while still being cheap to run.

Re: Scooters
I commuted around London for nearly 10 years on a super sport bike. A scooter would have been infinitely better for the purpose on just about every level, but I just couldn't do it.
Yes, I'm a scooter snob.

Re: Scooters
I was there when he crashed his Fireblade. A right hander and it looked like he just went straight on. Me and Ket were leading and noticed after a couple of miles we were alone Thankfully Bratty was alright. Gary Mason bought his smashed up blade.
I missed Fish Hill. I did come out but I was struggling with tonsillitis. About 15 miles into the ride I pulled over and said I was going home as I wasn't feeling 100%.

Re: Scooters
If you do a search of ebay, there are 125cc scooters with well over 25k miles and still selling for a good money.Stonesie wrote:If i get a scooter it will be a 250 minimum, they're better value used as there's much less demand for anything over 125 and the extra grunt would be nice to have while still being cheap to run.
I wouldn't need any more than that. Its the absolute chaos that are roads have become that is making me consider it for commuting now and again.
It wins on every level bar comfort ( and even that wins in the summer). Cheaper, quicker and if i don't spend a lot then i am not going to be too precious about it.

Re: Scooters
I love Groms, they are so fun, do get a bit of speed wobble flat out at 60
Remember: If in Doubt use Full Throttle, It may not make the situation any better, But it will end the suspense...

The bit that interests me most of all in all these is 100+mpg. Some are claiming 120mpg.
