Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
Today rode 230 miles all in to Cheddar Gorge. What absolutely amazing roads to get there.
I went with 2 of my mates and we got a move on. I sh!t myself up a couple of times though. The first I was shifting and didn't quite realise how quick I was going and how sharp the bend was so instead of panicking and breaking I just lent straight off the bike and powered all the way around it, I felt lile i wasn't holding it on the correct road line instead the racing line and I managed to kick up some sort off the side of the road and give it a little wiggle. Defo a squeaky bum moment
Second was when i was just outside the Gorge and the bends were really sharp, I was following a rider on a CBR and they clearly knew the roads, they were a bit ahead of me so I decided to catch up. Before I knew it they had started a going into a bend and disappeared, as i was accelerating at the time I realised I was going in too hot, do snatched at my front breaks. I felt them dig in and I thought I was coming off from target fixation straight into a cliff, shook my head out of it and dived my body into the bend. Came out the other end realising the other rider was never going that quick because I had caught them up
Third and final. Parked up in a gorge side car park (not in the town) kicked down my kick stand, got my leg over the bike and wollop, the kick stand flicks back up and leaves me battling the bike not to fall down. I knew there was a slight angle but not as much as what i have parked on before! Luckily my mate ran over and held the bike for me while I got my footing sorted.
About 20 mins on trying to find a car park in town and my mate managed to slide it on gravel and fell over. No damage to him just a few scratches to the bike.
After that we all decided it was the prefect time for cake and drinks!
Then popped by the reservoir for a bit of chillage
Also on a side note we noticed about 3 different riders literally riding up and down the Gorge from the moment we got there until the moment we left!

err be careful Topping up the coolant on the 675 .. Mine shat its shelf over the back tyre in spain. They get warm and move that coolant round a lot never filled it above min and had a second catch bottle for the over flow pipe.Blade wrote:Disappointed tbh. Was main dealer serviced 110 miles before I bought it and the job card says they checked the coolant.
Maybe they did but it was below minimum so I would expect that meant top up.
What's the theory behind the drop ? Leaks common place?
"80mph" sorry officer I possibly could not have done that I'm no Valentino Rossi.

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
Quick look at the manual and the 675 only has 2 litres of coolant and most bikes are 50% more at circa 3 litres.
I would suggest the overheating is due to the small capacity and the inability for the radiator to cool it in hot conditions.
I guess the design team found using a litre less saved a kilo of the bike weight very easily and very cheaply and believed the system to be capable of adequate cooling.
All guess work off course

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
I might add some water wetter to help it run cooler when I do a coolant change in the winter.
Plus I'll check there is no air in the system as a precaution to ensure it's operating at maximum efficiency.
Appreciate all and any advice. Cheers chaps

You could use TuneECU to change the temp that the fans come on. Won’t make it run any cooler but might stop it going over 105 at traffic lights.

I was told you cannot use Tune ECU on the 13 MY bikes.Monty wrote:You could use TuneECU to change the temp that the fans come on. Won’t make it run any cooler but might stop it going over 105 at traffic lights.

I read it somewhere and a dyno centre I spoke to said the same. I believe it can lock the ECU needing Triumph Dealer reset if tried.

Quick looks at the link says "Triumph Daytona 675, only up to VIN # 564947" and mine is a later bike so assume the above is correct.

Yep, Triumph ECUs now are locked (or they certainly are on the sports based models like the 765 and 1050s) so it's a PCV only I think. I know that Woolwich don't offer anything for Triumphs

I was told bazaa, pcv or rapid bike are my options if I want a custom dyno map.

Have you enquired at CJS Racing? He is an expert at unlocking ECUs and then remapping them.
Just last week he worked out how to unlock the Ducati DVT ECU.

For now Duke I'm happy with it as is and prefer a reliable stock engine tbh.
If I want more performance I can just take the Duke out for a thrash

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
The folks at Tuneboy in Kiwis neck of the woods tried for ages to break the encryption on the later Triumph ECU’s with no success, it’s a great idea for the early models, but I guess there too many radical maps blowing engines up for their liking. In retrospect given VW’s escapades I’d be surprised if locked ECU’s don’t become mandatory.
If you’ve got a bit of air in the rad, the cap is on the r/h side of the rad header tank, remove it with a cold engine and the bike on the side stand, top it right up and then replace the rad cap. It should then bleed any air and excess coolant out into the header tank expansion pipe when it gets hot. It’s all simple stuff tbh.

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
Took the Versys in and they gave me a brand new fresh out of the box 0 mile 390 Duke.
It's ok, a little dull but that's no surprise given the lack of power.

But that's still cool though......a brand new bike, just like that!
You'd better not drop it.....

Re: What did you do to your bike today ??
They're more worried about the new tyres and the rain combination. But the bike comes with M7rr as standard so I've got no problem with scrubbing them in for them
