Like you St M, I climbed anything I could as a kid, mainly trees etc, so guess the muscle memory helps! I'd never tried a full over hang the few times I had been wall climbing in the past. But I since have met a bloke that climbs a lot, all over the Blue Mountains. In talking to him over beers before I've picked up a couple of tips that I put into place yesterday and it made a huge difference.StMarks wrote:Very, very impressive KK.
Like yourself, I haven't climbed for years now.
However unlike you, climbing was a passion of mine from an early age. It actually had an influence on my life course.: As a child I would climb anything, trees, then walls, then cliffs etc... I never had any tuition whatsoever, all fee climbing (except that I set up a two-rope bridge with my Dad in our garden).
It got so that when we went on holiday I would be off scaling the cliffs, whilst everyone else was sunbathing.
Then one day when I was about 14 I was competing at a Horse Show, and there was an Army recruitment stand with a climbing wall. I'd never even seen one before.
When no one was watching I nipped up it, piece of cake.!
They were f'kin furious.!!!
To be fair, I'd never even seen a safety harness, let alone worn one. Although I think it was the shock of a skinny little urchin suddenly appearing over the precipice when he was having a quiet doze in the sun, that really angered the recruitment officer stationed at the top.
Having said that, I had a go at the climbing wall at one of the ski resorts not that long back (within 10 years, anyway) & I was pretty useless. So I personally am extremely impressed with your performance there.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Just Google "Gibson Les Paul 3-pick-up" and a few should pop up. They look like any other guitar to someone who doesn't play, I suppose.
I'd get it for much less than....there's a huge markup on most instruments.....prolly get it for about half that if I get serious.
Been mulling a new one over for a while now....down to a few I like a LOT.

Just did. Cripes, some go for a lot more than $8K even. Nice guitar too look at. I can't play so aesthetics is all I can go on. My dad has played since he was 16.

Giving myself a lucky escape!
Packing to got to work and a few minutes before Jess came and picked me up I had an urge to check the expiry on my passport. Need minimum 6 months to enter Timor, which is where our heli-base is. Opened up the passport, 5 months!! Luckily I have a newly renewed NZ passport so grabbed that.
That would've been a three day stay in Darwin if I hadn't have realised, to get an express renewal with an extra three days Offshore to pay back the time.

Nice one..!!
Plus they're a pain if they expire...have to redo everything rather than just replace the thing.

I've been caught properly with this one a few years back, cost me an express renewal and a wasted day sat in a cafe waiting for it to be processed drinking sh*t coffee.kiwikrasher wrote:Giving myself a lucky escape!

On my way to work. I've barely used any of my frequent flyer points I've been collecting over the last 4.5 yrs and have a stack so upgraded my flight to Darwin to business. Means I get to use the Business lounge rather than the normal Qantas club once I get to The airport this morning as well. So looking forward to a bang up breakie!

Had bacon and eggs and fab coffee. On the flight had a lovely meal and complimentary red wine.kiwikrasher wrote:On my way to work. Got to the hotel and got a harbour view upgrade. Did some poke hunting, caught up with some work mates and sunk 6 pints of cider, then had a delicious pull pork burger from room service.
About to pass out and deal with changing to night shift for 3 weeks.

Nothing and I'm bored. I'm usually working fairly quickly to get the job done, but thanks to a parts department gnome's incompetence I'm sat waiting for a delivery. It's like being in the Forces - hurry up and wait.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Talking to one of my quaility control mates up in the offices today and heard he's off for a little gander down to our other UK manufacturing outlet to eye up a new machine he also let me know that 2 other quality lads are off to Amsterdam for a few days. What stumps me is the fact that they are both getting Hilton suites and all in for the few lads will be costing the company 8k for the luxury!! I swear Ryan Air do plane tickets for £30 well I suppose the company allow them to book this stuff
IN comparison...
I get into an argument for wanting to order a dust pan and brush set (no joke)

The Mrs just rang me up to ask if I was getting anything dropped off at the house. No I said, why? Because next to the front door is an axe wrapped in a blanket
No idea what it's doing there but it's my axe now
