I’ve got a nasty feeling you’ll find the lad that was driving was nothing to do with the real owner of that car, he was going to go through the motions until you got your phone camera out, any details you may have got would have turned out to be erroneous.
Well if that's the case and I lose my no claims then I have no option but to sell the Street Triple. I struggle as it is to insure two bikes without a garage. I can't see me getting anything under 4 figures next renewal for two bikes if I've got a claim against me.
Sorry to hear this buddy glad you are ok. Agreed with StMarks - shock can hit in at any time so make sure you have company for the rest of the night
Well done for staying shiny side up
Personally I don't believe the car was nicked, most likely he was smoking and he knew he was in for a hammering when you caught him out and believed he could get away with it. I bet the driver is prob shaking in his boots tonight wondering if he will get 12 black boots knocking at his front door
If the car was nicked though can you still claim against their insurance because legally it was covered at time of incident? I understand it's not fair to the owner of the vehicle but neither is paying for bottled water - basics to survive.

I really hope that’s the case, the routine Kwacky described is horribly familiar - I got hit in London years ago, took all his details and put the company accident report in as required, got the vehicle repaired and didn’t think any more about it, until that is our Transport Manager phoned to tell me it was a duff address and the guy didn’t exist. Fortunately the Law had it all on cctv as it was a major junction on the A13, so I was cleared of falsifying an accident to cover up damage I’d caused elsewhere.

I still suspect he's in his mum's car. 999 didn't react when I have them the number, they didn't ask for occupant details so hopefully that means it's not nicked. The police this afternoon didn't react either when they put the reg in. Given that the lads in the car didn't want their faces to be seen, nor did the driver, he had his lights on and that it was early in the morning, I reckon they've been up to no good and were on their way home. He mentioned Bedford a couple of times and when I asked him his postcode he blurted out MK42 before pausing and giving me crap info for the second half of the postcode. One of his mates shouted out Bradford, not Bedford which could have been him trying to get his mate to cover up where they're from.
Who knows?
It's all guesswork.
So unless the car is cloned, the positives are: tax, MOT and Insurance.

Isn’t it the case that even if the vehicle was nicked then as long as it’s insured then the owners insurance would cover it?
I'm pretty sure you're correct (although obviously you'd expect Kwacky's going to know all this better than we do anyway).
Presumably the concern would be if it's a ringer (as I posted earlier) because then the insurance company that is responsible for the actual vehicle that the plates belong to will be able to deny any responsibility.??
No. I doubt there's anyone there at this time of night
It's not my job to report his accident to his insurers. The longer he fails to report it the worse it looks for him. The insurance process isn't quick so I can sit back for a bit now that I've got a lot more information.
Next step is the quote for the damage. I've already told the Insurers I don't want/need a replacement vehicle and I don't want them to use their company for the repairs.
sorry to hear about this Kwacky, but glad you stayed on.
It's the long term affect for you I am gutted about too. That's the crap thing with insurance, even if not at fault, it is still classed as a claim. I hope it doesn't affect anything, and the street can stay.
At least next Sunday you can take your mind off it.
