Re: The new improved fitness thread
Probably the most boring gym session ever. I should have stayed at home. Chest and arms but I really couldn't be arsed.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
So...
My knee's been a bit dicky recently, not sure why but it's meant I've had about 6 weeks of missing Leg Day.
So jumping straight into 4 sets of 16 squats, despite there only being 40kg on my back, probably wasn't the best idea. My frail old body likes to reject high-volume squats the only way it knows how, by puking!
Didn't feel like much after that. A few sets of leg raises, and a couple each of calf raises and leg presses for 20 reps, but it was very light. Any more and I'd have been sick again!
I'm expecting Super DOMS even from that!
Speaking of DOMS, I did arms on Tuesday and they're okay now, in fact, I would say DOMS didn't even make an appearance this time around. A bit of an ache the day after, but otherwise all good.

Well, the legs are tightening up more and more as the day goes on. I suspect tomorrow will be painful.Itchy wrote:So...

Ha! This is why so many people skip leg day - the DOMS
Back and shoulders for me this afternoon. One of the former instructors joined me for a few exercises as we seemed to drop into the same routine. She's got fantastic form

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Fleet half marathon for me this morning. On the build up there had been an undercurrent of confidence as my running has been really strong and consistent. However this well shattered that confidence with the arrival of the lurgy!
Seems like I didn't need to worry that much as I've bagged myself a new PB by about 6 mins and also joined the sub 2 club.
Happy as a pig in shit right now (all be it a very tired one)

Waahoo! Good work Jon! You've put in heaps of hard work so I'm not surprised you are smashing PB's!

What makes matters worse is that I've realised I have to change leg day to Monday if I ever want to be comfortable and pain-free on a weekend rideout ever again!Kwacky wrote:Ha! This is why so many people skip leg day - the DOMS
So, tomorrow then!

Re: The new improved fitness thread
It should have been legs and abs today. Blitzed through the legs part no problem, but I've still got DOMs in my abs from Sunday, so I barely managed a set of each exercise.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
Chest and arms. I went big on the bench press, which is my first exercise. That basically battered me and I was as weak as a kitten for the rest of the work out.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
went a bit too heavy too soon on the deadlifts. I've not hurt my back, but it complained so I backed off after that. Did about half of my back and shoulder routine but opted for lighter weights with higher reps.

Re: The new improved fitness thread
A wise move. No point in trying to push through something like that.
Legs for me today. Still nice and gay with the weight (45kg), still had to be careful not to throw up though with many many reps!!!

How are you finding your routine now Itchy and any gains in speed, strength, stamina etc?

Re: The new improved fitness thread
DOMS ain't so bad anymore.
I haven't checked but if previous experience is anything to go by, brute strength will have decreased a little.
Not sure on speed.
Endurance is getting better, as you'd expect.
As for the size, I'm sure I'm seeing some improvement. I mean, it's hard to say for sure with the excess fat I'm carrying, but I'm pretty sure.
Did shoulders this morning. By the end of it my shoulders felt on fire and there was no way to make it any better. Great workout!

Boxercise. Lots of boxing tonight, but it's a bit frustrating as my wife has hurt her wrist so I can't use any power when she's got the pads.

Started tapering yesterday in preparation for Sundays race.
