Re: The Europe debate
Clegg seemed ill prepared. Farage is a knob. I've got no time for him. He's full of middle england soundbites.
Bring back proper politicians.

Re: The Europe debate
You being a knob has nothing to do with your choice of political party.
There aren't many of the old school left. I know people don't like him and think he's a bit wet, but I've got time for Michael Hague. I also like Clarke and IDS. I'm very old school when it comes to my MPs.

Re: The Europe debate
The last mp I had time for was the late Tony Benn.
Farage, I like him a lot.... I agree with a lot he says. As for any of the cons, labour and lib dems, they've fooked it up between them in every way possible...

Can't be arsed to watch it. Hate them all and all they stand for.
Have we really got to a place where we have to choose politicians based on how they come across in a TV debate?
You are all being conned.

Re: The Europe debate
I'm a bit of a closet Ian Duncan Smith man as well, although I have been listening to Tony Benns diaries on radio 4 and I really enjoyed it.
I didn't listen to the debate as I find anything like that has to be stage managed to a certain extent and have lost all confidence in the BBC's Mr Paxman after the Flowers interview . What a joke

Re: The Europe debate
Whatever their political persuasions and as much as I didn't agree with a certain few at least they had back bones, well most of them anyway.
Ed Milliband ????? Whatever his politics are but jeez that man needs a good beating to get him to wake up a bit. i think he needs to grow a set

Is that any worse than reading about them in the paper ?? Seeing as they don't often pop in for a brew it's about the only interface most of us get with them.

They ( Cons, LibDems, Labour, UKIP) are not interested in making Britain a better place to live for the ordinary working British citizen though they pretend that is their goal.
And if anyone thinks we can just walk out of the EU with no negative consequence to our economy and Treasury then they are very deluded.
Re: The Europe debate
I may be very deluded , but I'd rather be deluded on my own two feet, as a master of my own destiny.
Why do you hate everything so much ?
( that is not a barbed question, I'm just interested )

Re: The Europe debate
I don't hate everything. I just have no time for our political system.
Its corrupt, self serving, undemocratic and not in the best interests of this country.
After experiencing it for 35 years I have realised that nothing much really changes.

Re: The Europe debate
It is my observation that one of the main issues is so called Professional Politicians in Europe as well as the UK, they are supposed to be in Parliament with the best interests of their Constituents as their only concern, by the very fact they are Career politicians they will look after themselves first, their paymaster second and the Constituents third (lets not get into the funny handshake allegiances). If you pay them they will be self serving, if you don't pay them you only get the ones that already have money and they will be class serving which will wind the clock back a couple centuries.
The basic issue with Democracy is that whoever you vote for, it will be a Politician that gets in. Mind you I don't fancy anarchy either.

Re: The Europe debate
Yet another reason not to play their game of 'democracy'. Had that been someone caught fiddling benefits for that amount they would have ended up in jail.
But being an MP she can ignore the rules, ignore the committee who demanded she pay back £50k and only pay back £5,800. And just give an apology in Parliament and its the end of the matter.

As for Farage, he despises the EU and all its stands for but is quite happy to take £200k+ in expenses from them to pay his family and allegedly his mistress for EU parliamentary work.
