I won a trial today. It was on a particular point of employers liability which is pretty fluid at the moment.

Another wish for a smooth surgery and speedy recovery for Jess.

Congrats mate! I’m guessing trials are plenty of hard work but also one of the more satisfying aspects of the job, especially when you score a win like that.

It's very rare for us to take a case to trial. They're expensive and risky.

Jess surgery went well, no complications. Fibroid was just over 10cm round in the end so bigger than expected. She’s been in a fair amount of pain from the abdominal cut which due to the size of the fibroid ended up being almost twice the cut required for a cesarean. But she has a pain pump with OxyContin so is managing ok.
Thanks for all the well wishes. Just about to head back down to hospital for the day again.

That does sound painful. At least now she can heal and relax it’s done

Headed out for a bicycle ride....I had about a 40-mile route planned out.... that's more than I've done in quite a while.
Anyhow, it's cold as can be this morning, so that route is about to be cut in half.

Building an IKEA wardrobe..
If never fun, but this time a new device was included. A little plastic bit to hold the nails while you hammer them in.. no bashed thumbs... Mind blown.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Semi productive today, I went to book the bike in for a re-map and found a cheap Sprint Filter on clearance on ebay, brand new and delivered for under £50 So that's being done at the end of March a couple of day's after the bikes annual service so the software update won't mess with the tune.
Then got a foul stale coolant smell in the car, almost like a pee smell so vacuumed the carpets (they use urea de-icing stuff at work so I initially thought it was that)...
Nope, passenger footwell is wet with red smelly liquid, I had wondered where the coolant was going as it was not mixing with the oil or leaking on the driveway. Now I know the heater matrix is leaking. They're always a joy to change... Sometimes I regret knowing so much about cars.
Ah well, it will be an opportunity to drain the oil cooler and replace those weeping gaskets while the cooling system is empty...

I’m pretty sure every car made is built entirely around the heater matrix I’ve done a few back in my youth and it was never a fun job.Stonesie wrote: ↑23 Jan 2023, 18:29 Semi productive today, I went to book the bike in for a re-map and found a cheap Sprint Filter on clearance on ebay, brand new and delivered for under £50 So that's being done at the end of March a couple of day's after the bikes annual service so the software update won't mess with the tune.

Re: What are you doing today ??
I had a late start but changed the heater matrix and the gaskets on the oil cooler. The cooler seems a nice easy job so I did that first, it was not hard but I did have to remove the front of the exhaust and the clutch slave cylinder to get at some of the bolts, so that took a lot longer than expected.
On to the heater matrix, the French decided to cover one of the screws for the glovebox assembly with a warning sticker for the passenger airbag, took me some frustration to find that... All done bar the carpet cleaning, I want to be sure it's fixed before I get started on that.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Prepping all the kids stationary and equipment for back to school tomorrow. Jess son (youngest) starts high school this year so we now have 4 high school kids in the household!
Byron starts photography this year and I managed to get an amazing deal on a barely used Nikon 3400 for him, so looking forward to getting my camera out more this year with him.
Jorja is an anomaly and doesn’t start till the day after, so will be the only kid home tomorrow and has already asked if we can get out on the bike, she’s definitely turning into a little biker chick

I'm meeting an old mate. We fell out when brexit unearthed his bigoted views.
He reached out recently, apologised, said he realised he was a twat and wanted to make amends.
