That's a big jump! That's about what I pay a year in rates (council tax) but we have no street lighting at all, no water or sewage (on rain tanks and Biocycle). The only thing the council do is collect my garage!
I'm sure once you settle in the extra cost will be worth the quality of life being there. I know that's how I feel.
Happiness is not a destination. It is a way of life.
It is what it is and we can't influence it, but it does nt seem unfair imo. If you choose to save money, pay your own way in life and invest in an asset rather that squander your money on booze and a flash life style you can pay more tax for the privilege of making sacrifices and being sensible
The new bill is £2900 for getting the bins emptied I think that's about 4700 Australian Kangaroos in your money
Your right though when we finally get in the improvements will be worth while. We had a site visit yesterday and the house looked very nice and the estate is starting to look beautiful. Cheers pal.
I believe so. I think there on a timer or so I'm told but not installed yet. If there LED they might no be too expensive to run hopefully.
Worst case I can turn them off and replace with some LED security lights with pir sensor. Have to see when I get in tbh.
In fairness there only there as I insisted on street lighting. Originally there was nothing planned. I got mine and 4 neighbours done otherwise there would be nothing but darkness.

A good idea to have street lighting, especially in todays society.
Any pics of the new house matey? I love looking at houses
I got to my desk for start of shift, and my computer insisted I did a restart for some automatic updates. Restarted and my Outlook wouldn't run, which is a bit of an issue as most of my tasking is sent through email. So rang our IT support. They remotely applied a "repair" to my Office programs. hang up and find all of my Office programs have no problems because they are all gone! Ring back up, get a much more enthusiastic tech who tut-tut's at what the last tech did and informs me I have to do a full install and gives me instructions on how to do that through the company software portal.
All good. Problem is we are 500 km (300 miles D41) from land and our connection speed is pitiful. This is where I'm at after 2 hours.
"we'll be done in just a moment" ... yeah right.

Some shots of the show house Cookie. Ours isn't finished yet but it's the same apart from furniture.
