Apparently some of the questions resulted in surprising answers being given.

There is no right or wrong answers, I think she was just surprised by some of the responses and the answers given by some of those inside the industry.

Re: Can I ask a big favour?

To everyone who has taken part, on behalf of my daughter, a massive thank you. If you missed it first time around, there is still time to participate if you wish.

Apparently the results have been quite surprising.

My latest blog out now - Depth perception

Whilst most of us have our eyes checked reguarly, very little thought is given to depth perception. I hope this blog gives you some food for thought. https://www.hudgellsolicitors.co.uk/news/motorcycle-accident/depth-perception-and-the-dangers/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Can I ask a big favour?

My daughter is studying Forensic science and is in her last year at University. Her dissertation is in respect of cyber crime and as with many students she needs public involvement and opinion. I know we have done it here before in respect of students who make one post asking the question, so I hope...

Re: IAM

(lol) He sounds like a right plum. Trouble is, he was representing his group and the IAM in general and so a lot of people assumed that the way he rode and his arrogance was in keeping with the general demeanour of the group. In other words, he did not set a very good example. At least it is now he...

Many years ago, I was examining the chief observer of the local IAM group but for the RoSPA test (This is in the days before the IAM First and Masters) and hos attitude was that being the chief poo bah for the local IAM group, taking the test and being awarded a Gold would be a formality :x I kept m...

This will be different

As the saying goes, there is often a first time for everything. On Monday I will be lecturing (university term apparently ;) ) to the Forensic science undergraduates at Bournemouth University about my role as an expert in motorcycle crash investigation. So a little different to my usual audience Mos...

I wrote this a few years ago before the IAM introduced the 1st and Masters, but it is still relevant particularly now that the IAM have introduced the new standards as both organisations are in th main examining to the same standards. It may give you a better understanding of what we as examiners ar...

Re: IAM

It's not black and white. It's up to the examiner. I think if you're smooth and using the appropriate gear then it'll be fine. If he sees you using the same foot at every stop he may ask you to show to him/her that you can use the other one. You are right in what you say in that it is down to the d...

Why do we ride?

A good friend of mine Neil Law who is about to have his first book published and which relates to motorcycling has recently written a blog for our website on his thoughts about why we ride. It is very engaging and quite thought provoking. I thought you might be interested if I shared it with you. ht...

Thanks TC, that's very useful to know. Good suggestion about the mirror position. If you ever have difficulty in understanding anything you are told (which I am sure won't be the case) or you want something clarified that perhaps was not explained properly or clearly, always feel free to ping me a ...

Re: IAM

A good instructor and examiner will be able to tell very quickly how good you are on your mirrors. If you want to emphasise the fact that you are using them, just give them a slight tweak so you have to move your head just a fraction to look into them. If your instructor and/or examiner is anu good ...
