I'm out too because after running Saturday my knee is locking and then giving out and I couldn't sit all day on the bike.
Is Thursday 27 and good for people?

Re: The new improved fitness thread
No not yet... will have to wait for the knee doc to say. I guess will want a scan or X ray, but as I can walk (sort of) it can't be that bad, the naproxen have brought the sweling down nicely too.

I just seen the doc. She has grounded me and referred me to an orthopaedic consultant. Suspects a torn meniscus. Great

Re: The new improved fitness thread
My knee is fubared. I managed all the training with no injuries, and after the last training run I was thinking 'self, right knee hurts'... lots of IB and resting it made it heaps better. So I start... by mile 5 it's tightening. By mile 10 it's painful. By mile 15 it was screaming at me so I had to ...

Re: The new improved fitness thread
I ran 11 miles on the sorta hilly course at Nesscliffe (near Shrewsbury). Took it at race pace for next Saturday's race (Dig Deep Peak District Ultra - 30 miles) ie slow, about 12 min miling. But I have hurt my right knee ;( ;( no idea how as it only kicked off when I got home - immediately around t...

Re: Snowdon ride
We didn't do all of that on the Fest, Ross - we didn't do the bit around Denbigh Moor.
On routes generally I have a pile in mid Wales and also in south Shropshire but I don't want to annoy people by hogging the board so I'll post em up over the next few weeks.

If you don't want to go as far as Snowdon...
Really sorry but I just can't work out how to save a map and post it up. Maybe it's cos I'm using a Mac... I don't mean to annoy people and hog the board... there are a few more coming too, through south Shropshire... I did ask Boss Man Kwacky and he said to post them in here. http://tinyurl.com/nus...

Re: Snowdon ride
WTF is a KML file... some of us left school before the PC was invented :) Police presence - occasional. I have rarely seen much up the Pondy. I've never seen ANY around Snowdon. Frankie yes it was, but not the Ruthin and Denbigh bit. I'll do another route later today, and post up my faves gradually...

Re: Atomic Attacks on Japan
My FIL fought the Japanese in Singapore. He would rarely talk about it, it hurt too much. He was 18 in 1943 and was immediately sent to the Far East. He didn't return home until 1948. He would get teary-eyed and change the subject because of the horror of what he had seen. 10 of his schoolmates didn...

Snowdon ride
Starting with an apology - I really can't figure out how to post a ride in the rides section. So here's a URL instead. http://tinyurl.com/nlfylxg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; At nearly 200 miles (!!) the ride is damn long, but it is do-able (as I do it) but you can shorte...

Re: Not good reading
The road from Newtown to the Cross Gates is horrible. I say that as a biker. I avoid it, even though it's not that far from me, as the last time I rode it I had FIVE near-misses with morons on bikes going far too fast, underestimating the severity of the bends, and running wide. It's not nice when s...
