Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering
They do have a really nice Rally in stock, 2 years old and 6 k miles, being a used bike seems to make the insurance happy too as the quotes online are not all 4 digits. I've been considering a couple of adventure style bikes like V-Strom 1000/1050 and the Aprilia Caponord, I have some thinking to do...

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering
Today I called in to the BMW dealer to get a settlement figure as the online page is not showing my agreement, even the dealers online system didn't show it for some reason but after a phone call we have it and the insurance should cover that. In the words of Tony, You are fully comp and the bike is...

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering
I can't think of anything but the frame which would write it off so I'm going to let it go, I can get another in a couple of years after the insurance calms down a bit. The most sensible option would be to get the payout, settle the finance and wait until spring to get another, cheaper to insure bik...

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering
Got a message from the repair company and they are recommending to my insurance that the bike is beyond economical repair.
So it looks like that's it for this one.

Re: What are you doing today ??
My stitches came out today and I'm back to work later, so I've mostly been doing bits around the house to see if my back can take some bending and twisting and I can vouch for bruised kidneys hurting a bit... The whole thing is a learning experience.

Spending money Bought a replacement Packtalk and upgraded to the Edge as my bold does turn on but just blasts static at full volume, and a new helmet to stick it to, a Scorpion Exo tech evo Carbon, with the Packtalk being on sale and them price matching the helmet I got about £136 off the normal ret...

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering
I fired up compare the market and got a quote of £670 from Bennett's, not good, not terrible Then added my claim and CD30 (Careless/inconsiderate driving) and hit "get quotes"... The cheapest was Bikesure at £1323... Why do we protect that NCB again? (bandit) I'm almost hoping they write i...

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering
No update but they did send my insurance renewal quote... £1310
With no decision on the current claim yet that will go up despite protected NCB of 12 years.

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering
Just got a ping from Datatool, my bike is now in Surrey, bit of a jump from Carlisle but at least things are starting to happen and I might get an update by the weekend.

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering
Yeah the boxer engine and crash bars took the brunt of it, on a normal bike that would have been my leg hitting the car and I might not have kept my right leg attached. I used to ride with a guy who had a similar accident but on his left, we call him 'Peg Leg' and his bikes have an electronic gear s...

Re: What are you doing today ??
I'm off to the hospital to get this lump checked out. Hope it turns out to be nothing. I'm just fault finding on the automated claims forms :D And just had to call the underwriter as they keep sending messages saying I haven't provided all the details, apparently that's incorrect and they have ever...

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering
My main concern is weather or not the frame got twisted, if it did, it's done. If not then it will probably get a new engine and some body panels and continue on as my bike until it falls apart, with an insurance marker on it I might find myself in negative equity at the end of the finance (PCP) and...

Re: What ails you today?
The muscles in my lower back are getting less painful and got a lovely yellow and purple shiner on my right shoulder/collarbone from the rim of my helmet, and a less pronounced one across my forehead. Other than that I have taken the dressing off my leg, I can tell which stitch was done by which per...

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering
I'm happy to say the Yaris driver was fine, scared half to death but no injuries. I went to the doctors this morning and booked myself in for next Monday to have the stitches out, the nurse advised me to have a week off until then so I've signed off sick for a week. Called the insurance and they are...

The ticket is for Careless Driving, 3 points and £100... Could have given me one for Dangerous Driving so it could have been worse.

Re: Stonesie's GS Mods, Farkles and Tinkering
Well that didn't last long... I had a whoopsie near Moffatt yesterday after visiting St Mary's Loch. I ran wide on a left hander and still have no idea why, probably target fixation on the oncoming car (facepalm) I'm okay, battered and bruised with a nice 4 stitch cut on my right shin. The bike, the...
