Re: D650 Electrics/Starting issues
I'm no D650 expert, but generally if you disconnect something in an electrical system and then everything works it follows there's a problem with what you have disconnected. Perhaps unplugging the fuel pump and then replacing the fuel pump relay might show whether the fuel pump has a short circuit a...

Re: Timber .....
I checked and it's just over £460 delivered for my 675 with the extras, which puts it in the same bracket as workshop style bike lifts, but it's much more versatile and takes up a smaller space in the garage, partial disassembly could reduce the space required even further. I am very impressed, shou...

That's a cracking piece of kit! However I can't see it working properly in my garage with its stippled floor surface, but maybe a resurface is required. I have a cunning plan....

Re: Easter weekend plans
Similar story to Bratty, had a great day yesterday, I ate way too much and drank slightly too much, so am feeling a bit bloated and lethargic today, coffee and a good long walk will shake everything back into order I think, so that's the new plan for today.

Re: Water wetter
It does work, there's different brands that do a similar thing, but iirc it reduces surface tension and increases specific heat capacity, which in real terms means it has better contact with internal surfaces so heat can more easily be absorbed and conducted into radiators etc and the coolant can ab...

Re: Test rides
Did they give any reason? Seems a bit high handed to start taking deposits. I can only think they've had bikes stolen or bits swapped over, but then someone's only going to turn up with a bent card or a rubber cheque book and pull the same stunt. Good way of driving away business imho.

That's panic time, bike laying on you and needing mrs Nutz to get you out of a jam (you know she's not going to forget that don't you? (giggle) ). Anyway glad you're ok and your bike hasn't suffered any nasties either. Btw I don't like the Abba stands either, far rather have a couple of Harris stand...

Re: Trickle Charger Usage
Optimate here, interestingly I bought a battery from a company on Ebay a few years back and they enclosed a sheet of paper regarding use of trickle chargers. Essentially they claimed that modern trickle chargers of the Optimate style "wore" a battery out with the constant charge/discharge,...

Re: Snetterton Open Pitlane Trackday - 25th June
Having done an OPL in the past I'd definitely recommend it, according to MSV they cap the attendance at OPL days to twice the circuit capacity, so that's around 80 bikes compared to 120 for a normal trackday, riders will get just as tired, will still need to refuel both the bike and themselves and w...

Re: Joke of the day
An American tourist in London decides to embrace his pioneer roots and skip his tour group to explore the city on his own. He wanders around, seeing the sights, occasionally stopping at one of the many pubs to soak up the local culture, chat with the locals, and have a pint of bitter. After a while,...

Re: Flat Battery ... my fault or theirs ?
The Voltage drop is one way of showing that there is a discharge, but if the engine has been running and/or charging the battery it will still be dropping down from 13.5 -14.5 volts so if you looked at the battery drop for a minute that may be the reason. Also if there is a discharge it can be a wir...

Re: Flat Battery ... my fault or theirs ?
I'd say a battery shouldn't go flat in that time period, however I'd also say check for discharge with a multimeter set to amps or milliamps, if as D6 mentioned a wire is trapped and there's a small continuous discharge it'll kill it fairly easily. I'd also agree that a battery that has been fully d...

Same here - not for the road, besides the speed required being fairly deep into license losing territory, I'd be worried about R/Handers and catching a cats eye or stone with my knee.

Similar story here Nutz but some weeks back, it's 10yrs since I had him asleep on my chest listening to my heartbeat, seems about 6 months ago.... Today myself & Junior Gee will be cleaning the patio, so the forecast is for wellies, a pressure washer and lots of water. Mrs Gee has bunked off to ...
