If you want to know why we have to import so much of our food (46% last year, most European countries are less than 10%), then this is why - Supermarkets call ALL the shots.

Humm.... farmer supporting the sale of expensive delivery boxes costing way more than the supermarket equivalent slams supermarkets saying the boxes are better for farmers...

We import a lot of food because we demand non-native and out of season produce.

We import because we demand cheaper produce and the rest of the world is able to grow and ship to the UK cheaper than UK farmers can supply.

We import because UK farmers ruined their land being greedy by growing single crops year after year instead of rotating.

The boxes are re used, Jon. Returned with the next delivery and then used again as they are very sturdy.
