Motorcycle Follies

Back in the 90s there were a bunch of mates who decided to start organising track days. It was mostly middle aged men who wanted to spend some time together doing track days, having fun, chatting shit.

The Follies got me in to track days. They were very relaxed. No egos on show. A wide range of bikes being used. Most people used their road bike, their pride and joy.

Everyone was friendly and helpful. It was common for people to have a meal together the night before.

On track everyone was polite and courteous. Off track everyone was chatty and helpful. I remember seeing strangers swapping bikes, handing over spare parts, working on each others bikes.

Ian Fox, one of the founders, sadly passed away this week. Him and his wife were ever present until the Follies ended. I'm still friends with his son.

He'll be missed, as are the old days of Folly trackdays.

I remember them but can’t recall if I ever went on one of their trackdays.

RIP Mr Fox.
