That’s is seriously impressive Rossgo, it doesn’t even have that model feel to it, looks so authentic, the weathering and the discolouration just gives it a ton of depth.

Had the same issue because the mounting hole(s) were only on one half of the fuselage pieces. I ended up just leaving it off for a cleaner look. TBH, back then I thought it was a bomb. (facepalm) :D

Nowhere much. Lock down was a weird time. Nothing really to talk about. Went to work, came home, days off couldn't go out so wasn't a very exciting time lol. Very strange time. Felt like we were under house arrest. I was just lucky I have my doggy to get out around the field ImageImage

Much better now we are out of lockdown and able to get out etc and enjoy our new found freedoms/ rules etc etc lol

Hope you are well also buddy hope you have managed to use this sun while we have it lol Image

Cheers kiwi. 4 months basically lock down time was spent doing this in between work and house chores lol! Really enjoyed it but feel like I've missed out on summer (like everyone else has due to lock down) very strange feeling - I needed to accomplish something and say I've done something when usually it would be a good blat in the sun instead it has been this Image

Hope you are well and everything is calming down, down under

Haha - it looks like a bomb couldn't agree more but I know you know your history so I know you would know it's the fuel tank lol. I was considering keeping it off but it looks good slung under the underside lol

Thank you very much StMarks Image. Must admit it has been enjoyable sorting out this model. I've learned a lot about the hobby and now can't wait to do my next one lol

Nope...I genuinely thought it was ordnance. And many, if not most pics of 109s show them without the tank. I thought "fuel tank" was a typo....it just didn't make sense to me to keep fuel on the outside when people are going to be shooting at you. Still doesn't, come to think of it.

I'm sure the RAF and USAF used tip tanks to extend the range

A quick Google seems to say that the Luftwaffe were using them during the Spanish Civil War. Allied planes didn't need them or use them until the latter half of WW2, as the fighter-escorts went deeper into occupied Europe & over Germany itself.

So it seems I may of just sold my BF109! I added it to ebay purely because I don't really have the space for it and within a couple of hours I had a message saying I've been paid. A little disappointed as I would like to keep it but I don't think I could.

I've made a loss on it but I was never going to get my money back anyway and I've got back enough for a few full tank fulls on the bike plus enough for a bit to eat while out so I'm happy.

Well...the fun is in the building of them, isn't it? The odd few that I've sold (and mine are nowhere near as good as yours) just give me a bit of cash towards the next one. Or give it to a kid, and maybe stoke his imagination a bit.
Nothing says "I care" quite like a miniature fighter-bomber.
