Just had a team meeting about our failing factory overrun by 30 minutes. Our manager's manager did a 30 minute introduction.

There's going to be a Senior role advertised within my team and I'm conflicted. I want to strive to push myself but I'm already struggling with anxiety in a role which doesn't particularly push me, not every day at least. At least this way I would gain experience in managing a team and consorting with accounts, sales and general business roles.

I was looking at my colleagues and I only see 1 other person as a likely candidate (if they were to source internally).

Good news. The training passport I've been seeking since I've joined finally got pushed through and I'm booked on for my Flow Simulation course! My manager was getting blocked on it but told we went around his manager and he said he'll take the sh!t if it gets picked up.

The training course means I'll be living with a Tesla for a week driving 130 miles a day so we'll see how that goes.

Long day yesterday, left the house at 3.30am to get there for an 8am meeting, and back home by 5pm. Woke up to an email this morning (sent at 6am) to say they'd like me to join the business. They do seem to like their early mornings those pesky Danes, I hope they don't expect me to keep that up.

I've got a video call with them on Friday to thrash out the final terms but I think it's highly likely I will be joining them in August. (after a few months of gardening leave)

Yearly review with my Manager was successful. He sung my praises (which is significant as I do feel like an imposter, I know I'm qualified to do it I just feel like I'm guessing my way through) and we spoke about Secondments, progression and his goals for our team over the next few years. It was a stark change to last years review as I think he's finally been given his own reins and it gives me hope that I will enjoy the future of this role. Unfortunately for now I need to just stick it out in this pigeon hole I'm in and get these rigs completed.

There is a Senior role being created in our team which I also spoke with him about. The role is being completed by someone in our team already for the most-part, however, he did say the role isn't set in stone and I should still apply. It would effectively be a role to create free time for my Manager, being a point of contact for work floor staff and managers, delegating tasks and pulling the right people into projects. He also said it would be high pressured. I don't think I'll get it but I think I might apply, the experience of applying is one thing and I don't think it'll affect me being told I don't have the job. With my anxiety I think I need to grab life by the balls a bit more, often the prospect of something is far more severe than the thing itself.

Well done Cav. Start using that praise to push away your self doubt. You're clearly very good at your job, hard working and keen to work at a high level.

Congrats to both Monty and cav. Along with stonesie, it's nice to hear about some positive starts to the year.

This week has been tough. We're at a crunch release with the product so it's been flat out for a couple of weeks, but this week has been particularly special. I've done 3 11 hour plus days, with yesterday being 13 hours straight, both lunch and dinner eaten at the desk.

I'm ready for the weekend!

A number of people are off sick in our place, 5 in a team of 13, with 1 confirmed to have covid.

In his absence I picked up a production issue on a product I have no experience with and rectified it with an interim solution. It's really nice to have that tiny bit more variety in my job and why I want to push for Senior.

Have a zoom interview with a consultancy company on Thursday.

The are picking up Govt/Defence contracts on fuel installations and need oil and gas expertise.

It’s 50% work from home and a very very tidy package.

Down sides are the 50% in the office is 1.5hrs min to the city, and it seems the job security is quite shaky dependant on contracts they secure.

But definitely worth a chat to them. Feels like I’m going to be interviewing them more than they are me (lol)

Good luck with both of those mate. I found the interviews where I was interviewing them went much much better and they were a lot more keen on me in general. Particularly in more senior or advanced roles.

3 confirmed covid out of the 5, and 1 was just working from home.

Compulsory testing across the site this morning. 3 more in our office sent home after producing positive tests and 15 confirmed cases across the site.
