Job satisfaction at an all time low I presume.

Finally on my last leg home from work.

Production is not dropping as fast as expected so end of field life estimate has pushed out a few months. 90% of people offshore just want it to be done. There are constant #jokesnotjoking about purposely tripping the place and hopefully not being able to re-start.

Moral is horrendous. The few guys I’m close enough to talk candidly too have all reported ongoing psychological issues post that period of quarantine. Similar stories to myself. Bad anxiety attacks, social anxiety, profound apathy and depressive episodes.

My next job is definitely going to be something good for my soul rather than my wallet.

First day in the new job yesterday and I'm pleased to say it all went really well. There's plenty to learn of course and most of all I'm struggling with names... so everybody is called Dave - except those who aren't.

2 weeks into my new job and I'm already going to be setting my first development job solo. They're planning to send me to Switzerland for training at the end of my probation but my team are trying to get the company to reduce my probation so the training can happen sooner. The sooner I receive this training the more beneficial to me (and therefore them) it is.

Very happy I made this move. Very happy.

The biggest thing to note so far is how much quicker my "projects" turn around and how much more involvement I have. Maybe this will grow tiresome over time, but for now, it's extremely refreshing.

My new manager said he was running into this problem so changed his approach behind recruitment. Instead of recruiting the skills, recruit the person (i.e the attitude to learn and adapt)

I have just fired off a job application after updating my CV, apparently Stobart can force me to work a 15 hour shift if they want to.
I don't like the attitude of being forced, if they ask nicely I will do them favours...
Shouting, demanding and swearing triggers my FU response, I did my contracted hours, reminded them that overtime is OPTIONAL not mandatory and came home for some much needed sleep. They did say that I would be reported for refusing work even though my reason was safety related, being over tired for driving.

Tonight should be interesting.

That's no way to treat any worker, let alone an HGV driver.

What's the market like at the moment?

Plenty of jobs around at the moment, and agency's advertising like crazy on social media. I've fired off 1 application but there are another 4 companies hiring in the area offering similar money, starting over £40K which is a tad better than the 22.5K I got driving a bus. But with loads of smaller companies offering more than bus wages I won't be back in that financial hole any time soon.
