So badly want a ride. I am itching for it now! Haven't touched the bike for months and months trying to save money for my wedding (in the most beautifully place in the area), honeymoon (which will be the best ever, defo once in a lifetime) and for my trip away (quite possibly once in a life time before the matter of kids come along which would potentially see the end of many if not all my bike trips for a very very long time). Want everything but on a budget! The struggle is real!! I should of paid more attention at school!
However on the flip side I feel incredibly lucky that me and my misses can afford what we have, we both have a flat made into a home (which we want to redecorate again) both have a cat and a doggy who we love dearly, both have well respected jobs - which we work hard in, never in debt (apart from manageable ones - electric, water, phone, car etc) what is it about us westerners that just make us want more and more, why is it I want more and more?
I've travelled a bit (canada, Germany, Tunisia, Thailand and Dubai - and other places no need to list everywhere) less than some but more than others, seen some great views and seen some aweful ones as well, seen people literally just skin and bones with out a job, without a loving supporting family around them, without a house/ home and I moan about not having a ride. How incredibly ungrateful that seems. And yet I worry about myself and worry about my misses and my family for the littlest of things.
Does anyone else sometimes just get that feeling of, my problems aren't as big as the world's problems and yet when it's our problems it seems bigger than our world's problems? If that makes any sense?

Re: Reflection
The desire to own stuff is constantly rammed down our throats. It's commercialism at it's finest.
You're looking after the the right things - family and friends and your loved one. It's only natural to worry about those close to you.
As I've gotten older I've realised that it's memories and being loved that makes you happy. You've got both of those in the bucketload, so keep doing what you're doing.

Re: Reflection
Your in a good place IMO, good stable job and a happy loving relationship.
I agree with kwacky that memories a worth much more than stuff. It's one of the reasons we bought the caravan, we can spend a lot less money going away and have more time as a family.
As a side note, just because you have a family that doesn't mean the end of biking trips. They just become a bit less frequent. Also don't forget yourself in all of the mayhem that is life. Like all of us here, biking is part of your life and who you are. You shouldn't feel bad for sticking £20 of fuel in it and going for a quick blast, it's a reward for all the work IMO.
