Looking for a bit of advise on the forks from the 675. Before going to Silversotne last weekend i noticed a fork seal had blown on the 675. I replaced them myself when doing them there was a ver small amount of pitting on the fork leg so i tried get rid of it best i could giving it a very fine wet sanding . All appeared to be fine however coming back from 2 days on track it looks like the seal is weeping very slightly. I guess i have to replace the Stanchion or get it re chromed.

My question is: Is it worth upgrading the forks ..
My bike is the very early daytona 675. Is it better to get the internals done or upgrade to a later set of standard forks or just fix what i have and get a new stanchion or re chrome the old one. Whats the best bang for buck. Answers on a post card to PO BOX do i really need better forks or not

I'd be tempted to buy new Stanchions and send them off to someone like MCT.

I don't know, otherwise I'd do my own (giggle)

Give Darren a call and see what he recommends for that bike and year.

Darren did the std forks and shock on my track 675, the bike had done less than 1500 miles when I took it to him.

In a nutshell the damping adjustments were virtually inoperative front & rear, so he stripped both and fitted new damping that worked and could be adjusted, resprung the rear and set it up for me. That lot cost me £600+ and the bike handled exactly as I wanted with no vices I my meagre talent could find.

Best thing is to call him and see what he can do for you, he’s a top bloke and trustworthy. HTH, DG.
