We've been around for years but it's a very small site and not very busy. I've got Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts for it but apart from that it's not a site that's advertised or shared.

Not many people use forums now.

So how did you find us?

oh, didn't realise it had a lewd meaning

i just found you by accident after I left the MCN forum - the reason I left was because different factions were having an arguement and it wasn't especially pleasant to witness.

i prefer forums to facebook.

Ah, the MCN forum. I got banned several years ago for a flippant comment.

Feel free to tell your friends about us. We're a friendly enough bunch.

thanks kwak, i think i've got one friend somewhere haha but he doesn't have a pc.

well you must have been pretty flippant (don't sound like you) as they tolerated quite a lot of stuff that they shouldn't as far as i am concerned although i understand that since i left there has been a mass banning which took out a few innocent peeps.

I was never a massive fan of the MCN forum anyway. Too many "experts" who never rode their bikes.

:D

Reminds me of the HD I had.....the frame welds were so atrocious I considered leather tailbags to hide them....but in the end it's like "How much more gay could this bike look??"...they wouldn't be helping the cause much.

The welds didn't look so bad after that.

Surely once you got on the bike it looked sooper gay anyway. :*

Gad you are enjoying the forum Sir thingy. I like to think of this place like a pub. Plenty of banter, and friendly digs. Some serious conversations when maybe one of us has had too much to drink. The odd bit of bull shit. but all done in good spirits.

thanks matey, a relief not to be dealing with aggression and 'funny' comments after MCN although that was down to a minority.

what is the history of this forum, who set it up? I think there was a reference to the'old'forum at some point, just interested that's all.

Initially a good portition of us where Triumph Daytona 600 owners and members of D600.org (or something similar). A few of the lads found that site and it was disfunctional at best, porn links, spam and nothing much of substance. D6Nutz (resident nerd/tech support) and a few others got admin rights and by the time I came across it, the site was very functional, and a great resource.

As a result of this improved value when the lads approached the owners about buying it from them they wanted crazy money. So we continued. Then the owners wanted money just to continue with it, so we all dutifully chipped in and donated to the cause. From that I think the money wanted increased or a buy it for this amount or bugger off was presented (but grey on actual facts) so we embarked on a copy and paste exercise to preserve our tech info bank we had built. Kwacky had already established Tankslap Mk 1, so info was moved to there. Then once we were happy, we deleted it all from the D600 site and left them a shell of a forum.

Since then Kwacky and D6Nutz have worked wonders in maintaining this place and upgrading the software and servers to this 2.0 version

That’s the history to the best of my recollection your Honour!!

Oh and Sir Thingy (I think D6 has coined you a new nickname (lol) ) hi, think I’ve missed saying so!

I’m in Australia so you’ll see me posting at the wrong end of the day due to time zone differences. Unless I’m on night shifts and it’s quiet.

Nice to have a new member and like the concept you run of back to basics, carbs, no fancy electronics etc with the FJ. I have fond memories of using a choke and reserve tap (nah, not really (lol) )

Kiwi is half right. At the same time as the Daytona forum was being argued over there was another forum called sportsbiker.net

That was one of the first forums and very popular, but the owner got bored and people left to set up their own sites.

I was running sportsbiker but had no admin rights. I asked the owner if he wanted to give it up and let me take it over so I could get it going again. He wanted money, which was taking the Mickey, so I said no.

I got a mate to build me a bespoke forum. That was tankslap v1.0. D6NUTZ ran the tech side of it and I was front of house.

Tankslap was very popular. We've had some big ride outs and a couple of well attended nights out. But for reasons unknown, a big chunk of people from the same area in the uk left and never came back. Others got into racing and stopped using the forum.

So we made version 2, which D6Nutz did.
