iron Butt? No Way

Gradually Its got so I can do less miles in one go, tried an airhawk and had seats rebuilt for comfort which has slightly extended the period but no real improvement

I think years of sitting at a desk in an office have slowly destroyed all the blood cells in my posteria area. The only thing to do now seems to be to take breaks and walk around a bit.

Exercises help. Build up your core and backside.

anythoughts on what type of exercises to improve things please?

sit-ups don't help for example because they cause sore butt in themselves.

Cycling......compliments bike training in lots of ways, not just the obvious 'two wheels thing'.

Just ask Nicky Hayden.

Any butt clenching exercises will help. Stand up on tip toe and squeeze your cheeks or do it whilst sitting down.

Move around on the bike and keep the blood flowing.

Knee down exercises should help (lol)

There is a straightforward resolve for the pain from your posterior that has been often been reported over on 675.cc
Get a Daytona 675.
Instantly the ridiculously tall seat height, coupled with the sculptured plank that Triumph designers saw fit to in place of any cushioning will distract you from thoughts of discomfort as you attempt to tip-toe-totter it into a vertical orientation.
Then once up & riding, your hands will start to tingle, your wrists will ache & your arms will feel leaden from supporting your torso. After a short period your knees will start to lock up, and the reduced blood flow to your lower legs that comes from your feet being halfway up the side of the bike will begin the pins & needles in your feet. This contorted prostrated position naturally places you in the perfect position for a clear view of the headstock, and to gain a useable view of the road ahead requires you to strain your neck back to an angle that equates to looking at the ceiling 1foot behind you in a normal standing position.
The resulting crick in your neck, strained wrists, dead arms, locked up knees & numb feet will all effectively combine to make your concerns about a numb-bumb something of a "fond memory".
Hth.

Or buy a Versys. It's got a seat thicker than the people who like to watch shows like TOWIE

very good stmarks - disconfort comes with the territory

i hardly dare mention it but i once got a scotum caught in the folds of multiple winter layers without realising it then the next few days were really horrible with a rather strange walk until i slowly recovered.

ah that's nice - a bit of warmth, right now it's pretty much dark here at 3.00pm and freezing cold as well.

the other day i went for a bike ride to a high spot, 160m higher than where i live, went into a cafe but didn't realise how cold i was and accidently barged a guy eating his lunch and staggered into a table. next time i go there i expect there will be a notice on the door that says 'no bikers' haha
