I have to say i do agree with much said here, the commercialisation of the poppy in the last few years leaves an unpleasant taste to me.

There are so many poppy bullies on social media. It's getting to the point where people are losing the meaning of remembrance.

I've noticed this year there's been a lot of abuse towards the white poppy. Sadly by people who don't know what it represents.

Next November 11th will be a Hundred years since Armistice, and the ending of the "war to end all wars"...
How much our world has learned & changed.
& yet..
How little our world has learned or changed...

Maybe the Centenary would be a good time to consider how that original concept can be changed to better inform & remind.? -Because I'm afraid I wholly agree with Duke's sentiment in his OP.

It's got a few meanings. Mostly it's a symbol of peace. It also remembers those affected by war who aren't service personnel.

A wreath of white poppies is laid at the Cenotaph to remember the Merchant Navy
