Agree with Kwacky, there seem to be more people in the police force that want to do a proper job these days which is massively welcome

I don't know how the Police do their job these days. They get pulled in every direction and are not paid enough for what they do, plus there is not enough of them now so they are stretched too.

I admire every one of them tbh.

My daughters make me feel old and they were born in 1993 and 1995. Young man - when you are your age you think you'll never be in your 40's - it happens in a blink of an eye

I don't mind - i'm happy with my lot.

I'd celebrate being your age though - plenty of life experience to look forward to. We know everything

I have to say I love being in my 40s. There are downsides to it, but I'm very comfortable with who I am (if that makes sense?).

I hate being in my 30s.

Being on Traffic, I only ever went up to the Collieries a couple of times either as a staff driver (we wanted to take our bikes and provide escorts but that was left to the local boys) or we drove the Transits containing the troops, so we had it quite easy.

The overtime I was paid (24 hour continual duty) brought me a nice new (as in second hand) car and a holiday.

But there were some like my brother in law who was up north week after week and was raking it in and probably increased his salary about 10 fold (overtime after 8 hours duty was paid at a time and a third or time and a half if working rest days) and it was thought it was going to continue for ever.

It suddenly stopped and many Policemen were left in serious debt because they had not considered the implications of it suddenlt stopping and had been living the high life. For me it was just a nice little bonus.

But I know what you mean. There are many who adored Arthur and hos antics....
