2020 is when Euro 5 becomes compliant.

Interesting article in PB mag this month predicting the future. They reckon high revving IL 4s won't meet Euro 5 without either some kind of variable valve technology or turbo/supercharging.

Can't see any downsides to that.

Superchargers it is then.

Group Test in last weeks MCN of 1299, Gixer, R1M, S1000RR, CBR1000RRSP, ZX10RR and RSV4 RF

Gixer Thou is the only bike who's engine uses Variable Valve Timing and it tops the time sheet for 0-60, 0-100, 0-Top Speed, Standing 1/4 mile and 40-120 mph (top gear roll on)

Variable Valve Timing in a Suzuki at least clearly works

Young Taylor Mackenzie set a new outright lap record of just 51.003 seconds at Mallory on sunday on a new Suzuki , Micheal Dunlop did his fastest ever lap of Donington on one too , as far as I can see the new Suzuki's are a weapon .

That is mental time for Mallory.

I like the new Suzuki. The Fireblade came out top in the MCN test last week though.

Most cars nowadays are turboed and producing higher power than a few years back so I wouldn't mind trying out a bike that has a turbo or supercharger!!

I can see the Blade winning a lot of group tests tbh but 19k is the bit I struggle with

It's an awesome machine with high end componentry but it's still just a Blade with bling it doesn't excite like Panigale or strangely even an R1M IMO.

That MCN video is a pi$$take... 27 minutes to say not a lot.

The thing that would have made the review better is having the standard mods (exhaust & tune) done so it's more representative of how most will use it.

That's not possible for a group test really Cab but I think superior mag do something similar in there longtermers end of the year shoot out.
