I've always thought that triples are the ideal road engine. Twins run out of steam too early for me. I know people love the pull from low down but I find myself working the gearbox too much to make the most of the right rev band,

The 1050 Triple I had was the best engine for road riding. You could race it like a 600 or slap it in 4th and stay there all day.

The 675 is a smaller engine so you do need to get the revs up a bit, but the best part for me is that it still pulls up to 13,000 revs. A couple of times today I left it in 3rd so I could concentrate on cornering. The pick up is spot on out of a corner and you can race it up to the next corner without issue.

I think you might find it a bit of a culture shock to drop from your bike to 675 triple but I reckon you'll get on with a 1050.

In fairness a rsv1000 makes very similar bhp to a st3. Not as much torque but depending on gearing I would imagine the drive is similar.

My sp2 makes a good 15 bhp more than a rsv1000 in its tuned trim and it's lost 20kg but the honest truth is on the road it won't out grunt a 600 and the 675 is the most torque laden of all 600s.

Get a 675 out on a test ride Nutz I don't think it will be any slower than a 13 year old rsv in fairness. Technology and performance have move on massively in that time.

I'm starting to gel with the bike as I spend more time with it. It doesn't have to be revved but it does seem to ride well higher up in the rev range. The handling is spot on and the bike is so light it doesn't need much effort to throw it around.

You looked really comfortable on it today mate. It's certainly hit a fair bit of grunt, and it sounds great when your following it.

That bike is a fecking scream on the track. It's so sure footed and composed i reckon i was riding at about 70% of the bikes capability and it was still swinging through the middle group without being shown up.

If I'm going to do more track days on it I need a screen and some rearsets. I had my left boot down a couple of times today.

Glad you are enjoying it. Just goes to show how you don't need loads of power to have loads of fun.

That was going through my head a few times today. This is the least powerful bike I've owned in about 10 years and yet it's the most fun to ride.

I forgot to mention the tyres. I know I've grumbled about them in the wet but on track they were spot on. They don't heat up as quick as the M7RR and the cool quicker but there was loads of grip and plenty of feedback.

Do you think you will stick with these tyres considering you commute (big mileage as well!!) or will you move on with a different brand or go back to something like the M7RR? Or too early to say?

I know what you mean, the supercorsas on the track bike where ace, but I wasn't so keen on them on the KTM yesterday. I think you really have to work them hard to get the heat into them, plus a track surface is much more abrasive than road tarmac and tyre pressures are lower which together make it easier to keep the tyre warm.

I'll stick with these tyres until they're shot then I'll have a think about what I want on them next. The plan is to use the Triple for weekends only, not to commute on.

I like the idea Kwacky at least then it gives you something different for the weekends and to have a bit of fun on it in your spare time and don't have to stick with a tyre that can handle big commuting mileage. I love your 'live in' threads you write very honest reviews and give us all your thoughts on it. Keep it going!

T3 Racing lower chain guard fitted

Powerbronze fly screen fitted

One Rizoma grip fitted. The throttle is sticking open with the other grip and it's pissing me off. I'll have a play and see if I can get it sorted.

The fly screen does make a difference - I'm not being hit square on the chest by the wind blast now.

I had the same issue with mine. I think I had to fit a spacer of some description and even then it was hit & miss. Seems to have sorted itself out now though.
