I have this, mmmm, i didnt pay that for it though, i got mine on special offer for £160 with helmet bag and black visor, very comfy, light and looks good too

Its difficult to buy a poor helemt now but obviously fit has to be the main criteria of choice.

I tried an AGV K5 recently and its a lot of helmet for the money as its glass/carbon fibre and plush inside rather than polycarbonate which many cheaper helmets are made from.

As for manufacturers do they build lids for a varied shaped heads eg if I tried on a AGV and it fit well but not nessarily this lid would they have the same fit? Unsure if that makes sense!!

The same model will fit the same way but not all of the same make will fit the same.

I think I get what you're saying....

Manufacturers will make different models fit differently to one another. Typically a touring helmet will be more roomy in the cheek department whereas a sport helmet will have more cheek padding because a racer is more likely to be lean than a touring rider

I totally concur with Cav, I've had dozens of helmets over the years, & whilst some makes are said to make for "definitely different shaped heads", I have found that each model within each manufacturer fits differently.
They also "bed in" differently, some becoming simply more comfortable, & others becoming gradually less so IMO.
About 3y ago I went to the Bikeshow specifically on a mission to test helmets for fit, I spent all day doing so & taking notes,

I have a AGV K5 I bought to replace my track helmet after my stack. It's only been used by Jess so far on the back of the bike. But everytime I grab our helmets for a ride, it is noticeably lighter than my Shark Vision -R. Although the Shark has an integrated sun visor so a bit more too it.

Yep....the cheaper Suomy's don't fit me at all....they changed their lineup around a while back. And they got heavier too, which is fecking annoying.

So the mid-price ones fit fine....the higher end ones don't fit at all, and the ultra expensive ones fit well also.


All things said & done though, if someone can't find a lid that fits them properly these days, then they must be the Mekon Incarnate.

I tried on a AGV K5 yesterday however I am usually a small and this was very very tight around the cheeks and the vents at the front dug into the top front of my head. Either a medium (which I didn't try) would be better or that lid wouldn't suit me. What are these like bedding in?

Irrespective of bedding in Rossgo, any helmet should really start off by feeling like fairly even pressure all round IMHO.?

That's a good point StMarks. My NEXX started off feeling very tight then it bedded in perfectly. Thank you for your post

I don't have that problem (or does Jess) with the AGV K5 Rossgo, so if you are getting isolated pressure points I'd suggest its the wrong helmet for you.

i think the K5 comes in a small, medium/small, medium/large.
