This has come round quickly. Next week we'll be jetting off to the land of the Rising Sun. I'm hoping the kids will be able to cope with the long flight. We're going premium economy so we get bigger seats with more leg room. Finnair seem to have a lot to offer onboard so hopefully they'll be entertained.

Guess it's time to try and learn some basic words.

Saki-Faki??? $10.

It's considered polite to greet everyone you meet with "Hi, Roshima!!"....this is a casual greeting meaning "Greetings, my friend!!".

If someone offers you a drink, say "Sure, I'll have a little Nip....or maybe a Kamikaze shot?"

Stuff like that will go down well.

Did you know??? The only ship to survive the attack on Pearl Harbor undamaged was the USS Phoenix...later sold to the Argies, renamed the General Belgrano, and then consequently sunk by the British during the Falklands War??

Oh...that's right!!

Good call...totally forgot about that.

Seriously though......you will probably want to check up on their 'quake drills while you're over there. They're pretty simple....don't run, get under a doorway, etc. They have the routines pretty much down pat, and they're about as basic as the drill on a plane.

We're staying with friends so they'll give us the low down. Hopefully we don't have to worry about it.

Really?? I thought that was quite good......and original, too.

Then again all my comedy stuff lately has been ad lib.....it's hard as feck to stay on top of things once you throw other people into the mix.......one of the reasons "Whose Line...." works so well when it's 'comes together'.

Thanks for bursting my bubble, Dick. :D

This place is mental. It's so busy wherever you go, but everyone is polite and respectful. Even drunken people are happy, not arses.

We went to the busiest pedestrian crossing yesterday. Hundreds of people crossing and yet no one barges into you. People are mindful of everyone else.

No one tips here, it's disrespectful. A nod is returned with a small bow. I nodded at a concierge yesterday as he held the door for me and he had to run round in front of me to return the bow :)

We're doing the main Tokyo sights today.
