(nod) Constantly mate.

What I fail to understand is why such a large percentage of the population could be hoodwinked into believing that our homegrown (lying self-servng professional politician scum) will look after their interests any better than a more global pool of (lying self-servng professional politician scum). (headbang)

People are living longer....maybe they don't need the extra medical attention??

And granted, the population is on the increase, but to what extent is this detrimental if the newbies are in a healthier state than was prevalent a generation ago?

Even this Government is admitting that the country will be financially worse off for the foreseeable future though.

Well yeah....that way if it is, then they just say "we told you so"....and if it isn't they say "despite all predictions, we still managed to overcome adversity" etc.

Or how about the US government's way of thinking that paying the correct amount of tax in a foreign country is apparently 'unfair'.

I think you'll really struggle to find anyone, including even the most blinkered & doggedly determined, who don't realise that by now.
Ironically those who voted us out as they believed it would reduce immigration may be directly responsible for the French current consideration to move the UK border from Calais back to our own shores.!

Yeah...well, the EU is coming at various companies and effectively saying "We messed up...we should have had you pay more taxes a few years ago than we actually did. Can we have the money now??"

Which is fine...but it was still the EU who made the error in the first place...the US companies paid their taxes in good faith.

I don't go to someone and say "Hey...I know I charged you XXX amount for that carpet job in 2010...can I have a wee bit more...I've put my prices up since then??"...or "I forgot to charge you for sommit".

You are wrong there. The EU doesn't collect taxes.

They are questioning the relationships between various multinational companies and the governments of the Countries in which they base ( and i use that word very loosely) their HQ. The arrangements are tantamount to state aid which is illegal within the EU.
