Is Google Navigation an App or just a feature in Google maps ? Sounds a good option.
It's part of Google maps, I don't bother with the TomTom now a maps is always up to date, good traffic reports, and it's my favorite price ;)

I think Google maps is now using Waze traffic updates.

Cheers Nutz I've been using that.

The cars in built system seems pretty effective too and warns of any issues and will tell you if it recommends a detour or whether sitting it out will be quicker.

The M5 is bad north & south of Bristol at the best of times but DEFINITELY avoid on a Friday afternoon especially as its holiday season, the Queue north of Bristol was allegedly 26 miles long the other week.

I think the main rush of holiday traffic is over now but it is still busy, there are 3 sets of road works on the M5 south between M42 and Bristol and the junction of M5 & M4 causes back ups as 2 motorways are trying to use the same stretch and like Cav said its always slow round the Avonmouth bridge Gordano services area down to Weston. I don't know what your travel details are but give yourself plenty of time and leave it as late as you can.
If you get stuck and need a break i'll put the kettle on (y)

Cheers for the offer of a brew Mick very kind and genuinely appreciated but I couldn't possible subject you to the whole Blade tribe turning up mate. Thanks though (y)

I m thinking of setting of asap which would be around 11ish so round bristol area around 2pm ish. Is that early enough to miss the worst traffic or am I setting my self up for a fall ?

It's a hard one to call TBH you will be there before the rush hour crowd so should be ok ! it will just slow down a bit though.

We've made it down to Burnham on sea, the m5 was a little slow between Bristol and Weston super mare. Kept moving most of the time, total added time was only about 10 mins.

How your journey is going OK to mate.

Not bad but just joined m5. Warming of 38 min delay at Bristol so will suck it and see.

Cheers for asking and update.

Got held up around Bristol for best part of an hour. Can't complain tbh as expected something and the kids were extremely well behaved as apart one from very quick toilet toilet stop we did it in a oner.

Google maps advice was very accurate. Cheers for the heads up Nutz (y)

Had a meal and sank a few ciders. Early night, early breakie and back on the road bright and early before the traffic builds up.

Have a good holiday Nutz and family (lol)

Had an 18 wheeler breakfast now the final push. Roads seem quiet at this time so hopefully a quick run into Talland now and then the holiday can start proper (lol)
