You've only got 5 minutes to attack the boss, who appears at set times and you need a ticket to join in the attack. It's going to take some doing to get a raid done correctly.

A few of my local pokestops have now been converted to gyms.

I have 8 balls in my bag (not a euphemism I promise) all of which are 10km

The gyms haven't opened near me, although they have changed. I was hoping they would open last night at 9pm as I was walking the dog.

They weren't working for me last night either.

Have you noticed the Raid search on the nearby list? Mine says I'm not a high enough level (level 27)

The raid function hasn't been switched on yet. They're rolling it out next month to stop the servers from crashing.

Raids are now available for level 35+ players. Lower levels are said to be allowed to raid next week.

I got into a gym last night but didn't last long. It's all team Instinct around me. All 4 local gyms were yellow within about 10 minutes of being opened.

Not sure what the set up is with the new gyms but I didn't get anything when I put a pokemon in. It does look like it's a lot easier to take a gym now with the CP being reduced and staying low until topped up.

So you have to have a pokemon in a gym for an hour to get 1 lot of coins. I don't know what the limit is in terms of time though.

Also, you only get the coins once your pokemon leaves the gym

The raid system is quite good though.

You need a pass to get in. You can only hold 1 pass at a time and that pass allows you unlimited access to 1 raid of your choosing. You can leave the raid battle at any time to revive and restore pokemon then rejoin without issue. Max player battling = 20 at any one time but you could have 30 people rotating.

You can buy more raid passes. you can only receive/use 1 raid pass a day but the ones you buy (premium raid passes) can be used to enable you access to more than 1 raid a day.

You can only catch boss pokemon using raid balls (called premium balls) so once you run out, that's it.

I wonder if the boss pokemon can be used for battles?

Legendaries won't be eligible for defending a gym - no mention of banning for battling gyms

I believe Boss pokemon will be eligible for battling and defending but I assume you won't be catching a 25,000CP Tyranitar - more likely to be a 100%IV 90%CP pokemon

Where do you get your info from?

I've just read that feeding berries to a friendly pokemon in a gym gives you a candy for that type. That's a good way to increase your big hitters. Trying to get Blissey candy is hard.

Did my first raid this morning. Level 2 raid. It was a 12,060 Electrabuzz. 3 of us were playing. It didn't take long to take it down as it's not a very strong Pokemon.

Go a few rewards including several white pokeballs to catch it, which I did. You get a 10% version of the one you defeated, so this one is 1206CP, which is crap.

When a raid is ongoing you can't access the gym. I couldn't use it as a pokestop or add a pokemon.

I got a couple of rare candy, which you can use on any pokemon to get a candy for that one. I got a couple of golden razzberry as well which I've not used yet. I got a load of stardust as well as 3000 xp.

So they're a good little add on to the game.

I got a Tier 4 yesterday with 9 of us battling. Rhydon.

I've now levelled it up (it was 96%IV) and it's 2669 and my highest level Pokemon

I'm holding out for Alakazam and Machamp (already got them both but don't have very good ones)

I also got Golden Razz Berries, Fast TM and Charged TM

No TMs for me yet.

I didn't realise that you lose the premier balls once the raid is over.
