So, good new bike day was had.

First win was the Daytona didn't leak oil (so my repair worked) and didn't burn a stator out on the ride to the shop. It was just under 100 km to the shop, which is the biggest run its done in 5 yrs!

Got there and the Multi was in brand new condition bar a couple of scuffs on the panniers. Showed them the Triumph and got a case of the guilts as they were great dealers, proper bike people, so I did full disclosure on the Triumph. Still took it and gave me $500 more than they first said for trade in!! So got $3,500 for the old girl and paid $12,500 cash for the Ducati.

While there I got a few good pics for ya all.

These are all original! No restoration at all!

Then I got taken down to the garage to see the Japanese Shop mechanics restro

So did the deal and rode home. Well, in true kiwi style it wasn't that simple. Fuel light on 2 km down the road so found a servo about 10 km later. Filled up and then couldn't start the bike. Had the manual out and I was doing everything right but bike was dead. Pulled the key out of my pocket (keyless start) and put it right at the console. Came alive along with the 'key battery low' message |(

Rest of the ride home was ok but took 50 km of city riding to get over the bridge and into my country roads.

The bike felt like an old glove. I got plenty used to the Pikes Peak model I hired in NZ last year, so it didn't take long to feel comfortable. I like that it's a fookin quick bike but every sees 'grandpa' when they look at you.

Kids like it, my daughter is hanging to turn 8 so she can go for a blast.

Great day, care free transaction, great dealer, happy Kiwi! o/

How long you had the Daytona? Did you get it from new?

I love that old Kwak.

Nah, I bought the Daytona second hand with 24,000 Km on it for $8000 about 8 yrs ago. Crashed it 5 yrs ago last month, some will remember it was a pretty good one, bike went end over end after a wheel bearing collapsed (corroded) As I got time I worked on it but in that 5 yrs I fully renovated the house, changed jobs and started working away, went thru 3 yrs of marriage breakdown, moved out for a year, seperated and moved back. So it wasn't ideal bike restoring time.

New bike, new 4WD, new camper trailer, new girl, new life. Any doubts are completely banished.

I'm happier, and while they are with me at least, the kids are happier and we all have lots of fun.

Didn't you have a similar crash around the same time but on the road into Armco? I remember that messed you up a fair bit.
