Re: New bike day
How does the anti dive work Duke and is it still a conventional fork ? I have ridden BMW'S with theit weird fork system I think it's called paralever or something and that had no dive but also not alot feel tbh.

Re: New bike day
I've found that ACF is more than just a winter protector, it really does look after the bike. My SX doesn't look like it's done 19,000 miles (imo) and I find it's much easier to clean.

Re: New bike day
It's still a conventional fork set up. As I understand it the bike reacts to forces placed on gyroscopes? On the bike so can sense head braking and will firm the forks up accordingly.Blade wrote:How does the anti dive work Duke and is it still a conventional fork ? I've just been reading the handbook and its going to take some understanding. There are 4 different base settings - rider alone- rider and luggage- rider and pillion- rider pillion and luggage. Within each of those there is a default setting and two harder settings and two softer settings for each of compression and rebound. Then there are 24 settings for preload front and 24 for preload rear. Then there are settings for abs, traction control and wheelie control. Think I will write down the numbers for default settings and work from there when I am ready.

Re: New bike day
Bikes are getting very high tech these days.
You will have to post up some photos on a rideout Duke sounds stunning bit of kit.

Re: New bike day
My terminology in the earlier post was probably a bit miss-leading Blade, it doesn't have a specific anti dive system, just the active sus at work on braking keeping the bike level, similarly on acceleration reducing rear squat and improving drive.
Good article on the differences of the 2 systems

Interestingly though you can get a Ohlins SCU to replace the ECU which gives you semi-active Ohlins on the older models.
Damn you Duke, I spent about 2 hrs Multistrada browsing last night! wonders how much trade in I could get on the old girl

Re: New bike day
Got up early and went out for an hour before work. Will be glad when i can ride it on some dry roads. There does seem to be more difference in the different modes than there was on my previous Multi.

I purposely haven't test ridden the DVT as I know if I do i'll buy it, but I love my current Multi.

Re: New bike day
It was a tough choice, kingfixer. I wasn't convinced last summer when I tried the DVT but they have made some big changes to the mapping on the engine and it's a very different bike now.
Not sure if you are interested but I have a Navihalter satnav mount and some Brakbusters hand guard protectors to sell.

Re: New bike day
Took it on some back roads I know well this morning. Bike is astonishingly good. It's a bigger step forward than I realised even with being limited to 6k rpm. When braking hard there is a little forward weight transference just to make the front tyre grip into the Tarmac but not only can you feel it controlling dive at the front but also stopping the rear lifting to much as well. M50 Brembos have amazing stopping power.

Re: New bike day
Took the new bike out for the last two evenings.
Would like to get it run in ASAP. or at least to the 600 mile oil change. The handling is up there with the very best bikes i have ridden. Could be tempted to put some sportier tyres on this one, its that good.

Re: New bike day
Pirelli Scorpion 2s which are those supposedly multi purpose tyres. To be fair they are not bad on the road but any road tyre will be better. They are quite narrow for a 190/55. They are no wider than the 180/55 on the 748 once on the rim.

Re: New bike day
There are loads to chose from. There are PR4s, Z8s, Roadtec01s as well, you're spoilt for choice.

Re: New bike day
Is the handling down to the semi active suspension Duke?
If I get that Multi next week first purchase will be the Ohlins SCU to give me semi active. Read a bunch of reviews and every one raves about the mod.

I have the skyhook version, but agree with you that everyone says the Ohlins SCU upgrade is a must.kiwikrasher wrote:Is the handling down to the semi active suspension Duke?
