Is anyone bothering to vote?

I'll do my thing this evening when I take the dog for a walk.

I got my absentee ballot in the mail about a month ago....don't know anything about any of the candidates, and don't live there anymore (although it's nice that they write)....so have no business voting.

The Labour team have been very active in my neighbourhood for the last 4 weeks.

Yes I voted and although it some how doesn't feel right I voted UKIP.

Nothing to do with immagration or national agenda and tbh I don't agree with a lot of what they stand for but locally they were the only choice.

Conservative couldn't be bothered with any campaign at all.

Labour who have a strangle hold are far to complacent and have 16 very woolly meaningless pledges for 2016. All looks good on a very pretty website but no meat on the bones policy wise.

UKIP want more Police and to sort the roads out both of which I throughly support so as I said choice of one in the end, even though weirdly putting a cross in the box felt wrong some how

We'll go and vote later, I haven't seen anything on our PCC candidates, but it doesn't matter who I vote for it'll still be a politician instead of a proper Chief Constable deciding on where to direct manpower etc.

Laugh of the day was when I saw a placard beside the road this morning telling me "Lorne Green" was a PCC candidate. Commander Adama would sort out the Policing issues, and those pesky Cylons.

P.s. He's standing in Norfolk fwiw.

Frankly i cannot be bothered. I think we are only voting for the PCC and none of them have bothered to tell me what they are standing for...so feck 'em!

However I'm not convinced. The system needs to start to change now, & technology should enable the change.

Even more major problem though, is the people placing their votes.

What's everyone's view on duty to vote....insofar as maybe not voting for who you want, but ensuring who you don't want doesn't win??

I think we now have the technology to do away with MP's entirely , we can introduce Bills once they gain enough signatures and vote on them online , to put the infrastructure in place would cost about the same as the annual expenses bill I reckon . Obviously its never going to happen , it'd be far too democratic to actually have people voting on individual policies .

I have had my say, I did my postal vote a week back. I have to do my little bit so I can moan, if I don't vote I don't get the right to moan in my opinion! UKIP or Conservatives as my second choice, labour are just d&ckheads in suits and up America's bum, that t%at Blair made sure of that so I only swing 2 was ways either one is good haha!

Fwiw I can see that happening, rule by social media. It may even happen sooner than we think.
The main trouble is that "most people" are easily (mis)lead, and also do not stop to look at the larger implications.
Ironically it could be argued that state run Communism (like China) can be better.
But I guess that depends on how you gauge "better" .?????

Agreed, but sadly the Tory B@stard party managed to inflict so much damage to the publics perception of the Labour Party after the recession. When you add that to the damage Blair and his Neoliberal cronies caused when even life long members of the party like me left in drones, it's not really surprising how the electorate perceive them.

But it deeply saddens me that any compassionate intelligent person could ever vote for either the Tory party or UKIP.

I see the press was very very quiet about the Tory vote fraud issue before yesterday's elections.
