My interest in World War 2 stemmed very much from three movies I saw when I was a child ‘The Longest Day, Kelly’s Heroes and Where Eagles Dare’

He'll do for me.

I really hope this lives up to the hype. I love our old British made films, I would say best films ever to be produced, it was raw and the actors had to do it to film it, also o love band of brothers it was the friendship they formed and following their highs and lows it was built up and had so many layers. Personally I hope they get the right actors go play the parts, I would like to see a couple of big names in there but not all star cast

Read about this a while back.....'movie' has been in pre-production since before the war actually happened....I'm a touch skeptical TBH.....'Ryan' and 'Brothers' really did set a new standard for war movies....I have a tough time imagining how they'll come close to that standard without negative comparisons being made.

BUT!!!.....If Tom Hanks gets involved then it might just work....

I think this has been done to create attention and to try and get the funds they need to get the ball rolling.

You missed it my pun...or I did??
It's a Stephen Ambrose 'thing', or was (he died way back)....which means Hanks et al are prolly already in on it..they always are....the funding will be there already via producers...this is just to garner a little public interest to see if it's worth moving ahead.....Ambrose got a LOT of negative feedback in the past...Hanks is just carrying on that genre.
This stuff happens more and more these days on the web....I see the point, but I question whether they then shoot what the audience 'wants' to see as opposed to what they 'should' see....test screenings done before any dailies have even been shot, as it were.

I'm with Rossgo. His part was needed to show how the soldiers started to form their bond.

Band of brothers still a classic and tv gold.

First thing I watched at home in surround sound and thought there were Sherman's rolling into the lounge from behind the couch (giggle)

You're both right ...it's just that to me that guy has been typecast since working on 'Friends' for so long......I can't take him seriously
