I haven't looked at my pushbike for about 3 years. I dread to think what state it's in.

I use one every day and you don't want to see the state it's in (giggle)

Ran 6 miles on Monday, did 3 sets of sprints with a couple of the other guys. Was able to hold about a 5:30 m/mile for about 500 meters according to strava.

Just under 7 mile trail run tonight in just over an hour. Feck me the guys I was with can run, I was blowing out of every orifice and they where just having a chat (fubar)

Was glad that I could almost keep up with then though.

Nice little back workout this morning, included some deadlifts which I haven't done for a while.

And then, for some reason I decided to start walking as I stretched my back off.

Which has sent it into spasm and left me struggling to move for the rest of the day.

That's very impressive.

Itchy, get your back sorted out ASAP.

Cheers, Kwacky. I'm doing alternating workouts now:
2-3 workouts a week (Chest, Back, Shoulders Triple-set)

Week 1:
Using pre-workout I make sure I go fast, intense and no more than 60 seconds rest. Typically 8-12 reps to get a pump going (my arms are bigger than my face with a pump)
I typically put my body weight movements into this week.

Week 2:
Strength training. No pre-workout to make sure I cycle. I do a 5x5 style workout maintaining strict form and going as heavy as possible. If I only manage 3 reps that's fine, low the weight and finish the set.

Hope your back gets better soon mate, a bad back is a nightmare !!

I've lost my gym mojo now it's only a few days from closing. I know I've got to move gyms but I really don't want to. I don't think I'll make a decision until I'm back from France.

Been doing a 40 min helideck walk every night I've been out here, and yesterday I thought I'd smash some stairs. Did 5 sets of 90 and today my archillies (the one I blew out a couple of years ago) is aching

It'll sort itself out in a couple of days I reckon. It's one of those twinges.
I'll be stiff over the weekend but as long as I don't lay on the bed all the time and stay relatively active it'll ease off. I suppose I'm lucky it happened just before the weekend, I've got two days off from the gym.

Given my history with my back I accept it's going to play up every now and again. It won't stop me going to the gym, as ironically enough if I don't go to the gym my back has more chance of playing up and generally aching throughout the day.

Two plates a side is somewhat satisfying isn't it?

Which reminds me, this week I've added some 5 x 5 work to bring my strength back up. All the volume work I've been doing has been great but has done nothing for my overall strength levels.

Consequently, 5 sets of 80kg on bench press the other day was about as far as I could push it.

Hopefully this hybrid work will satisfy both the strength and hypertrophy aspects that I'm striving for.

10 mile race this morning round one of the local villages.

Very scenic, very hilly, and very hot. Managed 1:27 which I'm happy with, was faster than I thought I was capable of.

Crash-course diet...

Trialing a mostly shake diet for 2 weeks. 1800kcals non-training day, 2300kcals training day (500kcals from a well balanced meal).

Gym 3-4 times a week consisting of a 10mile cycle ride to and from the gym and triple sets (chest, back shoulders) until my knee is good enough to start training again.

I'm hoping for a long term 10kg weight loss but for now I just want to get back to sub 85kg. I'm hoping the weight will fall off in the next 4 weeks before I'm back to eating food full-time

Have you been getting fat?

Yes.

I'm 90kg now, should be low 80's really. I was 85kg and about the same strength I am now and was almost getting to the point I'd be comfortable topless, I'm thinking 80-82kg would be a good target (below 13 stone).

That would mean I can squat double my bodyweight again!!!

I'm 80kg. I could do with losing 5kg, but I like my food and I'm too lazy to do the work needed to shift the body fat :)

Lol, I'm 86ish, I wobble when I drive and I can feel the layer of fat around my midriff when I slouch in a chair.

I too need to get my arse into gear and actually do some cardio work, I keep telling myself that I'll start next week.

I started saying that in February!

I broke 80 Kg last break at home. Think it was the week in NZ drinking and eating that did it. Heaviest I've ever been. When I moved out from the ex I was 72 kg. But the lack of stress and being loved up again, coupled with lack of exercise due to the running injury have piled it on me.

This whole swing at work I've kept out of the cake fridge, not touched a choc biscuit, had wraps instead of savouries for morning smoko. Also done a 1/2 hr walk on the heli pad every night.

I'm too scared to weigh myself when I get home tomorrow in case I've lost nothing.
