People who dont do the job right first time!

Had the Jag serviced yesterday. Major service as it hasnt been done for 2 years because of Covid etc etc.

Needed new brake disks too, so cost a few quid, but needed doing.

Not done at a Jaguar stealer - would have been double the price, so done at a reputable Jaguar independant.

Car was in all day - got it back just after 3pm, drove towards where I am staying this week (about 40 mins).

Steam starts coming from the bonnet (so i thought), then a little way down the road, no air con, then no power steering.

I manage to get it home and get the bonnet up - oil everywhere. Seems they didnt do the oil filter correctly - thats pissed oil onto the engine block (luckily no fire), which then pissed onto the aux drive belts, which came off the pulleys, losing power to everything - however they thrashed around and ripped a load of plastic shrouding off (at least) on their way off.

Now to be fair - the owner is sending a recovery truck first thing and going to fix it - lots of apologies and will give me some money back too, but i dont want my car on a recovery truck!! But it will have to i suppose.

All because someone didnt do their job and check that they were doing. FFS.

Its a good job i wasnt on the motorway - especially the UK's wonderful smart motorways - what fun that would have been. Also a good job it didnt start an engine fire.

Happy Days. (gah)

I’m with you there Cookie, nothing shits me more than paying a tradie to do a job and then realise I could’ve done it better.

Also "to be fair".... changing an oil filter is about as easy as it gets - I'm not even sure how you can mess up something so rudimentary, let alone a mechanic buggering it up. What a cowboy.

I find the Ikea stuff quite therapeutic, the cheap stuff mostly chipboard, not so much

I'd rather douse myself in gasoline & then shave my entire body with a cheese grater than assemble flat-pack furniture.
So I guess that's a tentative "no" from me as far as that stuff goes.

The temptation to order flat pack furniture to your delivery address is unreal right now...

In that case I'll take a small bedside cabinet in black, and an ottoman please. With the top cushion.

I’ve considered actually starting a business as a flat pack assembler, lots of the major dept. stores contract out the work as loads of people are similar to you D, can’t or don’t want to do it. I chatted to a bloke that does it and he said always more work than they can handle. Get to met loads of Milf’s as well (lol)

People started loads of these businesses in the UK over lockdown. Charging reasonable rates probably due to being topped up with Furlough.

I don't enjoy flatpack that much though haha.
